I didn't get to watch the game. How was our o line and running game?
It's obvious that the defense sucked, but I think that it can be corrected.
I think that the rotation in the db backfield has to end; play your best guys and give them repetitions, manage the rotation and put the best players in position to make plays.
Just my opinion but I would appreciate some input.
I watched and overall the offense was good. The o/line while they looked to be improved, they have still not totally gelled as a unit! Old Miss was getting into our backfield and our run game showed a little better than last, IT still left room for great improvement! I'm still not ready to be ok with the O/line or the run game with what we had a chance to see today

probably would be less concerned if I thought it was just a rust issue.
I agree. The thing that really plucks my twanger is the degree to which the D, which is purportedly ahead of the O talent-wise, just flat-out stunk. We've seen poor tackling before. We've seen poor in-game adjustments to heretofore unknown or unanticipated schemes or personnel alignments that turned out to be highly effective before. We've seen athletically subpar starters look like they don't only lack the talent to start in the SEC but also don't seem to have the coaching or the FB IQ to react quickly or appropriately as plays were unfolding. But yesterday's D performance was the manifestation of all these deficiencies to an extent that really pissed me off.

By and large, I was pleasantly surprised by the O performance. The OL certainly isn't a finished product, but we did manage to generate a reasonable semblance of a running game. The passing game was very strong - and THE ONLY reason we didn't leave Oxford with an ugly loss. Davis and Pierce were serviceable and Trask, Pitts and Toney played at a very high level. I've seen enough progress on that side of the ball to believe that we will at least have a chance to win a shoot-out with anyone on the schedule. That guarded optimism is partially the result of the quality of O play we saw yesterday and the noticeable absence of good O play on the part of several upcoming opponents. LSU, TA&M and UGA all looked very ordinary on O. The Dwags were absolutely pathetic until FF once again demonstrated that a million dollar arm is useless when paired with a dime store brain. Without his help, UGA could have been in real trouble.

I expect that the D will probably improve as the season wears on. But then again, how could it not? But the handwriting is clearly on the wall. We cannot and will not achieve championship level D play with TG, English, et al continuing to bungle every phase of their responsibilities - starting, but not ending with better, more balanced recruiting. I will give DM credit for fielding an effective and entertaining O that looks capable of forming one half of a really good FB team. But the D was a train wreck yesterday and if DM doesn't seize control of the situation soon, it will eventually be his undoing.

Signed,

Not quite hopeless, but deeply concerned near Pensacola

Didn't we have only TWO scrimmages?
maybe there's a method to the madness.

maybe they figured they need every bit of depth they could and didn't want to hurt anyone.

but we've had terrible safety play for years and our linebackers have been terrible except for Reese. I dont believe tackling drlls would have fixed that.

An all SEC game season is physically tough, maybe Mullen thinks he can build his way up verses Ole Miss and USCe.
well they did install A LOT of playbook. maybe they started in the Spring.

you saw that ole Miss was ready for the few options that we ran and the screen pass game.

but the truth is we ran very little of that. some of the passing stuff I've never seen in a Mullins offense. Much more complicated levels and medium stuff.

IMO medium routes are where it is at. only slightly more difficult than completing a short pass.

trying hard not to overreact period after all we've seen one game bursts before, such as butters versus Ole Miss.

I caught the final quarter after watching my little boy’s team get slaughtered again. Is it worth watching the recording?

Did anyone else notice Kiffy was wearing a scarf/mask with LSU colors? He only wore it the first half as he had a different one after halftime. Can you imagine the beat down we'd give CDM if he wore a scarf that was garnet and gold or red and black? It seemed odd to me and I have to think there is a back story there.
