I was never a big fan prior to this year. He certainly has worked hard to overcome issues and learn the plays. Excellent hands and effort this year.
He will be remembered

Toney does big stuff while defenses are hyper-focused on him. He gets in the clear "at-will" ; It's just a matter of can the QB spot him? What contributions Pitts makes due to his dominating physical stature, Tony has to create by dips, slants & reverses. He is the first teammate to jump into the arms of Pitts, Copeland, Grimes, etc to congratulate their TDs. You watch, Toney will be a man of fame who will revisit UF in loyalty. {I hope his rapper career takes off too.}

I guess I don't understand this. Assuming he puts in a good 40 at the Combine (which he's fully expected to), why would he not be wanted at the NFL level? Pro WR's don't have to be tall, and he's actually bigger than Percy. At the bare minimum, he's a terrific return man.

Poking around the internet, some have him projected as high as a second round pick. Mel Kiper, as of a month ago, had Toney as his #8 WR on his board - he'd probably be higher now. To say he won't be drafted is asinine and I should ban you.
I hope you are right. Time will tell.

I didn't like this tepid response. Tell you what, the higher Toney is drafted, the longer your ban.

1st Round: Lifetime
2nd Round: 5 years
3rd Round: 2 years
4th Round: 1 year
5th to 7th Round: 6 months
Undrafted: 3 months

He's a very talented athlete. I've been real proud of how much he's improved. At one point he was a 4th string QB.

I just wish this Toney kid had transferred in earlier. Imagine how much better the last two years would have been if he had been on the team.

Yup, its not like we couldn't see his talent 2 years ago and openly wonder why the dude can't get more reps.

Remember Omarius HInes? The other dude that Mullen promptly benched everytime he picked up a big gain?

Im not sure what it is with Mullinz.

I dont think his footspeed is very good. I expect 4.6 or 4.7 even. What surprises people is how strong he is. He is hard to tackle.

Remember Emmitt was 4.6. It isn't a death sentence but some coaches value it too much. He will probably do very well in the shuttle though.

I don’t know how his knees don’t explode on some of the moves he makes. Don’t think I remember seeing anything quite like it.

good call on Omarius, he always looked like a mismatch out there but I guess we didn't believe in tight ends back then

The Percy comparison is way too overblown. Outside of running and receiving, they are nothing alike. While both are quick, Percy was fast...track speed fast. While Toney jukes, Percy put a foot in the ground and made one cut.

Who I think Toney plays like is a Noel Devine, but can run routes. Or a poor man's Barry Sanders at receiver. To me, Toney's balance is something that is never spoken about, but it's really the core of his talent. And pound for pound, the dude is strong.

I think he gets drafted on potential and ST. Just look at the one year improvement. He's basically been a receiver for 1-2 years. That has to get some scouts and coaches excited.

If you can not see his development, you don't know football.
He runs routes better now, no doubt, but he was always the best playmaker. But we had a bunch of seniors.

Still, most of the time he still just lines up in the slot and runs a crossing route. He has always done that, even under Butters.

One of my first observations of the season was how improved Toney was. I think it's speaks to his maturity that he worked on what he was told to work on, and became what he's become this season. I hope he has a long successful career and I'm glad he was a Gator and got a degree.

But as for his increased role, let's also be clear. The Toney we're seeing this year is not the Toney of the past. Even at times last year he was as much a liability on a play as he was a positive. He's worked hard to become this type of true WR, which he wasn't before. And as much as I'm frustrated with the staff, I think you have to credit Gonzalez with some of what we've seen. Every season, our WR's have played much better. Not a huge fan of his recruiting, but we were supposed to fall of this year, and we didn't. Guys are naturally going to finish playing their best football if they're coached correctly(see the opposite with DBs and Safeties). So we didn't have this version of him sitting on the bench in 2018-2019. He was always raw and to both his and BG's credit, developed very nicely. It's one bright spot I've seen. Again, glad he's a Gator and wish we had more than just 2 more games of him(and the other KT).

Also @Swamp Donkey, Hines was part of the 2008 class. I think he redshirted and never played under Mullen.
