Franks/Trask situation all over again; AR lights up USF

AR is our only hope of even staying within 20 of Bama.

let’s sacrifice what’s left of EJ’s confidence in that game, then turn the reigns over to AR the rest of the season.

EJ will play fine, but unspectacular, against USF. Mullen will give him more possessions to shine (don't expect AR until 5th possession unless it is for only 1-2 plays, not full drives). Then, when we are getting blown out by Alabama, AR will come in too late, be a spark, and get more playing time only following that game.

AR then saves the day after a slow start versus tennessee, and starts against Kentucky for the first time.

Thank me later for helping you avoid the stress of not knowing how this will play out.

this isn't a terrible guess. but I can still see him coming in too late to win Kentucky or Tennessee, if Tennessee can figure out their offense quickly enough.

any offense is a Dwagtham killer but fast tempo offenses are especially so.

Thread title could not be more on point and I'm getting more pissed off about it day by day.

The sensible way out for Cousin Eddie is to give each QB a half on Saturday. Then, when AR15 inevitably outperforms Treon 2.0, Cousin can simply say, "well, EJ had a more consistent command of the offense in practice, so that's why he was named starter, but AR has earned the right to be on the field with his gametime performances, so that's who we're going with now. Results matter."

Starting AR gives us a better chance to win, not to mention it would be encouraging for recruits to see that talented young players get the opportunity to earn playing time irrespective of seniority or other considerations.

Cousin won't start AR until it's too late. Like the thread says, it's Franks and Trask all over again. He won't make the right move, and neither will Fuchs.

This song will play in my head on a continuous loop unless and until AR15 takes over as QB against Bama prior to the second half:

I think this could be a huge win for Mullen if handled correctly. Im not sure what EJ wants after college but I think its safe to say that he most likely will never be considered a serious QB candidate in the NFL. But I do think he has an NFL career if he wants it. If EJ doesn't work out at QB for us then it would be good to move him to receiver or even H back.

Guys, EJ is listed as a RS JR on the roster but he can exclude 2020 last year (like everyone else) and actually be a RS Soph.

You need to get used to EJ being the starting QB bc it could be three more years. Unless he gets injured I fully expect EJ to be the starting quarterback as long as Mullen is here.

Mel Kiper was talking about him being a top 5 qb in this draft before the season... Because Mullen is the qb whisperer

But consider the source.

I remember when Fat Tooley and company were talking up 2014 Jeff Dipshyt as a first round draft pick and likely Heisman candidate bc the new offense is tailored for him.

Yeah...and a bunch of morons on swampgass think EJ was going to win the Heisman as he led us to the national championship. We have taken a step in the opposite direction that Kiper and those tards at sg predicted.

But there is no denying the abilities that EJ has with the ball in space. He is a weapon.

Driskel's HS highlights did make him look like the second coming of Tebow, only with a better arm.

There were high expectations when he arrived in 2011. But by 2014 nobody should've been mentioning his name in the same sentence as Heisman.

He threw for 1000 yards a year in HS. His obvious problem, his zero star brain, were present even in that film and in every scouting report, which was why his five star arm never earned him a fifth star.

Your whole premise is based on the NCAA still having authority 2-3 years from now to limit how many years of eligibility a player can have. I see them being completely out of the picture very soon. So since I don't see the NFL beating down the door, I'd say he's probably the starter here as long as he wants to be. I'd get used to it.

I am shocked -- SHOCKED, I tell you! -- that you of all people would pull numbers out your ass in support of your revisionist historical recollections.

Driskel threw for 1,427 yards his junior year and in his senior year he threw for 1,783 yards, including 16 touchdowns. He might've thrown more that year but apparently it wasn't needed because he also ran for 1,296 yards and had 20 rushing TDs. He also had over 300 receiving yards and 3 TD receptions. So, over 3,000 all-purpose yards and 39 TDs.

He was ranked as the #1 dual-threat QB coming out of HS, so it was not dumb for UF to sign him. To the contrary, he was highly recruited, it was considered a coup. The bigger failure of UF coaching happened in the development and utilization phase.

As it turned out, Driskel was definitely no Tebow and in retrospect was overrated in HS. But the Gators could've and should've gotten a little more out of him than they did. He left UF and threw for over 4,000 yds and 27 TDs in one season at LA Tech, plus 5 rushing TDs.

That is a 1000 yards. The fuchstard was lucky to get to 100 yards a game in HS just in college (and the NFL when some team gets desperate enough to play a scout teamer)

Will Greer threw for 1000 yards a month. So did most elite QBs.

Dipshyt was the fuchtard we thought he would be.

1,783 yards is not "a 1,000 yards," dumbass. Saying "he threw for 1,000 yards a year" tells literally less than half the story, when he was a dual-threat QB with over 3,000 all-purpose yards and 39 TDs in his senior year.

He was the #1 dual-threat QB recruit. That's a fact! Every Gator fan was happy we got him, just like we were happy to get Feleipe Franks. We didn't find out they were overrated until later. Your "Dipshyt was the fuchtard we thought he would be" comment, like as if you and the mouse in your pocket knew all along that Driskel wouldn't pan out, is total bullsh*t and everyone knows it.

Just shut the Fuchs up already. Your monopolization of this site is so old. Camping out here day and night, posting stupid sh*t in every thread just to provoke people into talking to your lonely ass. Sad!

I don't even get that one. Not familiar with the reference. But while we're on the subject of high school, don't you just know that @soflagator was that kid who would go and tell Brandon that Tyler was talking sh*t about him, then go and tell Tyler that Brandon was talking sh*t about him, then sit back with the popcorn? Never got in an actual fight himself, of course, at that high school attended by guys with names like Brandon and Tyler.
