Official JIM MCELWAIN Coaching Staff Thread
  • CMUChippewa

    • Alford landed the 'Big Name' Coach that he wanted - JIM MCELWAIN.
This is an absolute homerun. There's no ifs, and or buts about it. He is still receiving a large payout from Florida, and as I mentioned

Jim will be able to assemble a very strong staff and from the preliminary discussions around the offensive scheme, it has me truly excited for the future of the team. I really enjoyed the offensive production under Kelly and Jones and I think we'll see an exciting product on the field.

You don't usually see a Coach of this caliber take a non-P5 job, so Alford really did well with his first hire and he certainly knocked it out of the park.
earlier in the thread, that was something Alford was specifically looking for.

Did Byrd just switch boards?

I wonder why he didnt get a contract provision for a bonus for throwing the most incompletions in a decade. We could call it the "prolific offense" bonus.
Considering it's for imcompletions, the "And Yet" bonus may be more appropos.

Might as well make that bonus $5-10 million.
That's what I was thinking. Since it's an impossible task even if they go undefeated, you might as well make the bonus $1 billion just for shock value.

Does no one do due diligence anymore when hiring. They fell for the 2 SEC east division titles. I’m waiting for him to get the band back together. Bring Mike Kent so they could do Yoga. I hope the players have a good planet fitness close by so that they can work out on their own time. They were 1-11 and yet they hire Butters. At least there will be lots of PB&Js and popcorn sales.

At that level and with a better staff he could have success. It was only a matter of time before he got another chance. I hope he learned the level of team he can have success with and never even tries a better level of competition. Even better would be him getting fired again and not show up again, but that is probably too much to expect.

What’s he going to do with every other team in the conference who actually lift weights? Respectfully.

That would be the "better staff". And only time will tell.

Butters still hasn't made hires.....

Central Michigan: Sources tell FootballScoop that Jim McElwain is not retaining a number of CMU assistant coaches including Chris Ostrowsky (OC), Jayden Everett (RBs), Marcus Knight (WRs), Greg Colby (DC), Tony Coaxum (STC), Mike Dietzel (LBs), and George Ricumstrict (DL). In addition, we understand that a final decision on the remaining staff (TEs coach / offensive recruiting coordinator Tavita Thompson, DBs coach / defensive recruiting coordinator Cory Hall, and OL coach / run game coordinator Derek Frazier) will depend on his coordinator hires.

I know absolutely nothing about these guys he is jettisoning, but I do know that they are almost certainly better than the clowns he's about to hire to replace them. He hires the worst assistants I have ever seen.

I'm really hoping he hires Nord...just to give us a good laugh. His assistant budget is pretty limited so I can't imagine he gets anybody worth a sh*t. The guy is a clown. I still can't believe he got another head coaching gig.

Nord was the worst of the worst, a guy that is not qualified to coach at Pop Warner. He was a fatass, lazy, walking embarrassment who did nothing but hurt the careers of the players unfortunate enough to take instruction from him.....assuming he actually gave any instruction. He's the worst assistant coach who ever walked a sideline since football was invented, at any level.

That fatty got SEVEN FIGURES from UF before he was mercifully fired, not surprisingly receiving absolutely no interest from anyone else. I picture him at close to 400 pounds right now, sitting on his couch with potato chips all over his chin.

Saying that, it would not surprise me in the LEAST if Butters hired him again; that's the level of stupidly and ineptitude he is coaching from. I wish that lying, lazy, thieving turd the worst of luck and pray it happens.

He has to hire new underlings so they'll feel obliged to not see the emperor has no clothes.
Mac's uneasiness as a fake of football knowledge will be camouflaged amidst their natural uneasiness as new guys in town. Those firings had more to do with Mac's phoniness than as legit personnel decisions.

I hope the teams in Central Michigan's conference are tough this year. That they put disheveling anx into him such that those folks have to hear his excuses & spacey explanations in post game pressers.
