There is zero chance he comes back to, at best, re-enter a battle with Trask and maybe more importantly, Jones. I would agree under different circumstances. And this isn't a knock on him. But he's not the guy, at this stage of his career, that will be ok sitting on the bench. Not to mention he's likely not 100% until Fall camp at the earliest. As I said, he can leave with his head held high for his role in what appears to be a rebirth of the Gators. Coming back to maybe get a shot, maybe not, maybe underwhelm again, etc. makes no sense.
You are probably correct, but two points:
(1) Won't the NFL need to know that he is healed to draft him?
(2) I didn't say he would come back, merely that I wanted as many as possible.
I don't think that the board has fully realized how badly not getting a QB last year hurts.

I absolutely do not see it this way.

He should do what's best for himself, as well as what's best for the University of Florida.

Him moving on would probably be best for all parties involved, especially him.
While I agree FF should do what's best for FF, I don't think it's something he should be talking about right now. I have no idea if he was just sharing what's on his mind without thinking or if he wants to be the center of attention, or what, but the proper answer to questions about his future should be answered along the lines of "Right now I'm just focused on my rehab and getting back to where I was, and helping the team anyway I can." After the season is over, say whatever you want be it exploring the transfer portal, coming back to compete for your old job, the NFL, baseball, etc. Having said all that, I do sympathize a bit with him. After last season, he had to be feeling pretty good heading into this season. He then struggles with consistency and gets hurt - out for the season. It probably doesn't help to see how much more the Gator nation seems to have fallen in love with Trask (Swonk excepted of course - not that he loved Franks either). Given his positive relationship with Trask, it possibly has him very conflicted inside. Happy and jealous all at the same time maybe? I too wish him the best; he played hard and by all accounts is a good teammate. A bit too emotional or immature at times perhaps, but a decent guy who never got in trouble off the field and gave us some great moments. (Who among us will ever forget the "Heave to Cleve?")

With AR coming in next year and I believe Trask still has one more year I believe he’s gone. Question is does he try the draft or another college? I also worry that EJ could bolt if he’s not starting by next year. I hate having just 2 scholarship QB’s to rely on. I guess Trask could leave as well if he wanted to. I know Mullen doesn’t seem to like transfer QB’s but talk on radio here in NE FL is that the Gatewood kid at Auburn isn’t happy and would likely transfer after the season. Have no idea how good he is, he’s backing up Nix and he didn’t exactly impress anyone Saturday. But Gatewood is from the area and I believe Mullen did recruit him. Regardless I wish Franks all the luck with whatever he decides, I never questioned his effort. I think he tried his best.
Gatewood is a stud. According to an auburn friend of mine, it was a surprise when Nix was named the starter and even then they were worried he Gatewood would transfer.

I didn't see him on the sidelines Saturday. The week before the announcers were talking up how great a teammate he was and showed him helping out in warm-ups.

Good advice above for him to go to a smaller college and get experience (and stats) like Driskel did. Or switch to TE and follow his brother to the NFL that way.

You've met the Dolphins, right?

But to your last point, technically we did get one. He was just an idiot once on campus and that's that. But to be clear, we were never going to retain both the Jones, plus have Franks and Trask, and still sign AR. It'd be great, but that just doesn't happen anymore. There would be a transfer after the first Spring. So I'm good with Emory(the one many thought would be pushed out) having two full Spring/Falls in the system and ready to take the reigns once the upperclassmen move on, over entering Baton Rouge with a hobbled Trask and a true Freshman that would've probably been slated to RS until Q4 in Lexington.

By the time AR gets in and fully heals(end of '20), Jones will have been here 3 years and will either come back as a Junior starter or move on. I think it worked out well.

Franks NFL value is at it’s height right now. He will heal fine and should really show out at the combine physically. Some team will draft him as a value pick prospect due to his physical measurables and he may develop into an excellent pro QB after a few years of development at 40 plus hours per week.

If he comes back and bombs his value will go down in spite of his measurables, imo.

With AR coming? mehhhh.... we aren't going to be able to stack quarterbacks up five deep. you are lucky to keep three deep.

Will Trask even come back next year considering he’s already graduated? Franks seems to be headed towards the grad transfer/baseball route. Disappointing, but he should do what he thinks is best for himself.

Who knows ... so many intangibles. But I think he is the type of kid who would come back to have that year in a program as a starter.

He didn't hurt his arm.
exactly. only has to do is throw the ball 88 yards once or twice let him measure his height and walk back to the training room put that knee back on ice and he's drafted.

Silly me thought walking might be important.
I don't think you fully understand a dislocated ankle. Yes, it's a terrible injury, gruesome to see the foot at an odd angle to the leg.

No, it's not career ending. Not at all, esp for a kid who'll make a living with his arm rather than his legs.

The ankle is nothing compared to the knee.

Best for all parties. No reason to create a controversy for us with the way Trask and Jones are playing. And while he didn’t have a great start to ‘19, he was able to redeem himself and end his UF career on a high note after last season, getting and helping us get revenge on Lsu, Usce, Mich and fsu.

Really hoped it would work out and his story would be a better one. But it may have ended about as well as was actually possible. Wish him the best.

Extremely well-said. Wish the guy no ill-will and never want any Gator to get hurt in the way he did.

But I also don't see him sticking around to be in anyone's interest. Not his; and not ours. No need to create a controversy or team cliques based upon his understandable desire to come back and start. Though his tenure was often frustrating, there's tons of positive memories and I know he worked hard for our team. Can't ask for more than that.

Same thing happened to Nick Fitzgerald at Cowbell the last game of the year in November, and he was back for spring practice.

I doubt the NFL would even draft Franks seeing the passing after he went down and the receivers we have. To get a late round pick he would need to do a Driskel and go to a pass happy team and produce some numbers. He is in a bad situation if he can't play in the Spring for someone as he might not even win the starting job if that happens.

Argue against what I said. I don't see the NFL drafting Franks with his passing ability he has shown so far. Maybe like Driskel if he goes to a pass happy team and shows some intermediate passing they might use a late pick on him due to his size.

You have said silly crap that wasn't even close to reality.
