I think we have to recruit in the top 5 of the league and get in the top 3 the next two years if we want to compete at all with Uglay and Bama.
And yet, judgment happens in one fail swoop or in increments. I'm an incremental.Very little difference between this thread and the "convinced' thread.
One set of posters looking at the relative improvement versus another dead set on total potential.
Improvement tends to happen in increments, not one fell swoop.
I trust Mullen's top 10 class to be better than Mac's top 10 class. If nothing else they get developed an extra year.
What's your point? Is this supposed to contest my opinion that our recruiting class is great under the circumstances?2019 Team Rankings Southeastern

Sober up.
If Black had played, no one believes he'd be outside of the top 50. So if you replace him with the #50, we are ranked 6th. Add MAR, we'd be at #4 and add Moore to that and we're #3. Us missing out on Moore is a big deal, MAR not so much. Still, when you properly place Black we are a minimum of #6.This is a very good class, especially if you consider the slow start, but it's not a great class. A great class would be top 3 in the SEC and one that filled all our needs. Not getting a DT stings and may bite us if we don't get a grad transfer or a stud freshman that can play early. Still, Mullen did a great job the last two months, and it is encouraging to see us off to a much better start for the 2020 class.
While it absolutely pains me to agree with Swonkey....this is a good, not great, class. Where are we ranked in the SEC? 4th? 5th? To achieve our goals, we need to be 1 or 2...consistently. Top 5 nationally - consistently.
I am impressed and excited with the “recovery” of this class, and 8 or 9 is above my expectations, but 8s and 9s won’t get us to the promised land. This “8 or 9” however, together with an exciting 2019 season, will get us to where we need to be IMO. I’m on the Mullen train.
I need a shower now.

Donkey is wise.
Who ever gave this a thumbs down should be banned.
Yeah, the usual people went all gaga over Butterteeth's "top 10" class.2019:

Florida: No SEC team had a bigger signing day than the Florida Gators. Jim McElwain woke up with the No. 19 recruiting class, and he ended the afternoon with the nation’s No. 10 class. Even the most optimistic Florida fans likely didn’t see this coming. [actually #9 on Rivals]
