ND is poised, schedule wise, to join the ACC if needed.

They may have to give up their traditional games of USCw and Stanford, and limit their piddling with B1G teams, but they may actually get an easier schedule (and road to CFP) by committing to the ACC. They did indeed make that move in all other sports but football recently, and while the football program remains 'independent', it is heavily ACC laden as you note. They may not implode like Texas did when they tried to be the big shot with the Longhorn network, but if they continue to hold up the appearance of 'independent' they should be kicked to the f'n curb. It's going to take several more years for that ego of theirs to shrink enough to accept that change. Just like it took the PAC12 and B1G a long time to let go of their Rose Bowl 'tradition'. Evolve or die. ND might not be smart enough to evolve, too much Golden Dome shine in their eyes to see reality and too much Touchdown Jesus in their ear about how big they really are to recognize when they are sitting on the outside and have to join a conference.
