This is so sad. I'm generally a fan of Foley, but have no defense for his decision to keep WM after 2013. If kids are aware of this extremely flawed approach, I find it hard to believe it wasn't widely known. How can anyone honestly feel that such incompetency would ever produce results. It's absurd.
Just as you are generally a fan, I was never a fan. I disliked him in 95 and through the 2005-2008 hey day for various reasons but primarily because of how he treated a friend of mine. I admit my bias. I don't like him. Never did. If we won the championship every year, I'd still dislike him and hope to see him fired.
FWIW, I heard they were deeply disappointed in the previous regime with respect to AH and others. I heard Foley genuinely liked Muskstank (ditto Zook). Fooley went way out on a limb with the two contract extensions and didn't want to look like a fool again. Also, Muskstank milked that 2 loss season for all it was worth, claiming the other two years were anamolies and had a string of excuses.
Not every AD is a former football coach who can make his own assessments of the program. However, if he isn't, he must have trusted assistants or confidants who can. Clearly, he has neither. Frankly, it's inexplicable how a guy can be in his position with this glaring deficiency. The heat is really on now.
I must admit I TRULY enjoyed his delusion (shared with his inner circle) that he was heir apparent as the SEC commish. Enjoyed every surprised tear. That dude has an ego the size of Texas. (Or maybe a DC from Texas.)
