Don't remember the green tongue guy. Hacksaw Jim Duggan was Mick Foley I believe. Who was the retarded guy that had rubber bands and food stuck all in his beard and hair? That era had much better characters than today.

Kabuki was the green mist guy. Duggan was Duggan, Foley was Cactus Jack. The retarded guy you speak of was Capt. Lou Albano....or perhaps half of the members on this board...

Well Gee many of us lived in Florida, were young and enjoyed the shows. Lots of other people who have not been mentioned, some who I remember but not their names.

Some large African American ex-football player comes to mind. Two Japanese folks Hiro Matsuda and Duke Kimido (sp?). The masked assasins. Russians, Iraq folks, etc.

Mid sixties. At my grandmother's house in Gville would get channel 12 from Jax. Gordon Solie. Eddie Graham. Sailor Art Thomas (huge guy like 6 8) Haystacks Calhoun, Hiro Matsuda. Jack Briscoe.(he may have actually wrestled at OU and had real wrestling skills) The Great Malenko (wicked russian) It looked real to me as a 10 year old. Then I went to Miami. My BF's brother back from Viet Nam (cobra pilot) took us the Miami Beach Convention Hall. Steel cage match. Seeing it live at 12 proved how fake it was. Spitting out fake teeth. Punches that never came close. It was over for me. But oddly one of my smartest friends (went to Vanderbilt) still watched it into his 30s. So long from the sunshine state (anyone remember that line?)

I think Mick Foley was called Cactus Jack years ago in Florida and Hacksaw Jim Duggan already had that name when he was in Florida.

Kevin Sullivan. I remember the feud that he and The American Dream had, seemed like it lasted for years.
my grandfather watched it all the time and we always joined in when we visited them in Lakeland. It was great as a kid.
you could not convince my grandpa that it was fake.

I cant believe I was correct, it was so long ago. The green tongue, turnbuckle eating guy was definately George "The Animal" Steele. That dude was great.

When I first got into wrestling in the mid 70s, Harley Race was Dusty's main antagonist. I hated Race and his Bob Ross afro.

I remember when Jack Briscoe was the good guy and Dusty was the villain.

Can still hear him shouting ...."Let me tell you somethin', Gordon Solie".

Yeah, I grew up watching "Championship Wrestling from Florida". It was the best wrestling I've ever seen. I used to go to the Eddie Graham Sports Arena and see the matches live when I was a kid. Dusty was always one of my favorites. Bugsy McGraw, Stan Lane, the Masked Assassains, Sir Oliver Humperdink/Rooster, the list of who's who just goes on and on. Sorry to see Dusty pass away so soon. He was a legend.

69 for a wrestler is like a regular person living to be 100.

RIP The American dream
