If Butters hadn't forced his way out, would he still be head coach?

When we finally get there, here's hoping that Ox will stop posting questions that would get anybody else banned.
It's a legitimate question. You people with a knee-jerk "no way!" aren't thinking this through. Butters was not fired for performance reasons. He also wasn't headed for 4-win seasons. He would have had 8 win seasons the last two years, most likely. More than enough to keep his job in the eyes of Stricklin.

Yes he was. He was 3-4 and there was MAYBE One additional win to UAB on the schedule- USC. The players had quit by UGA. It was all over and showed on the field.

Naw. He would have won 8 games in 2018....painfully. Then probably got another extension.

Butters had two ten-win seasons, and went to Atlanta twice. There is no clearer evidence of what a great coach he was. Ive heard 10 wins means you are a good hire.

8 wins or not Butters was on the hot seat. He was gone that year or the next. Attendance was falling, nobody wanted to watch the product he was putting on the field anymore. Plus he was rubbing everyone the wrong way. And he was embarrassing every time he opened his mouth. His days were numbered even before the death threats.

All that was already 100% true when Stricklin gave him the extension. What else you got?

Extension or not he got fired. It wasn't like everybody was in love with Butters and the death threats were the only reason he got fired. He was on the hot seat. They were looking for a way out and the death threats just made it economically feasible.

He is a Little Leaguer AD. A real GOAT AD would have given him two raises before the season like Fooley gave Chimp after a 7-6 season.

You are hammered. BUTTERS was the one looking for a way out, not our AD's - that's why he had to fake death threats. Why would he have to go through that charade if he was about to get fired anyway? The fact is, he wasn't on any hot seat and he knew it. He WANTED to be on a hot seat but Foley & Stricklin kept looking the other way. They were actually worse at their jobs than he was.

Are you asshats really trying to tell me that Butters was going to be fired at the end of the 2017 for performance reasons? It wasn't going to happen.

There was about three of us criticizing Butters and the rest the tools were blaming the QB and preaching about 3 star whispering.

ThreatMatrix was one of those people. He loved himself some Butters, and once claimed he got a "raw deal" at Florida. I think he's still pining for the guy but would never admit it.

It’s obvious that you secretly loved you some Butters. No surprise. Criticizing was just a cover.

Someone’s bitter Kelly didn’t work out. Looked great yesterday allowing USC to set all sorts of offensive records.

Not only would he still be here, his deal would have been extended to give him a higher pay than Saban.
Look if you're objective here is to keep people interested and engaged on this board(post count) then Butters is the wrong topic to use.....I for one would be interested to know what your take is on Ohio State looking so good DESPITE Meyer NOT being there anymore?

Was it Urbs or just his dumb luck of being in the right place at the right time again? I mean they should have fallen to 6-6 like we did when Urbs left here or like when Tressel resigned from OSU.

Which is it?
