I keep seeing this and just doubt it to be true. 5 kids from last year's class have hit the portal that I can see. 3 of them were suspended for the season for the in locker room issue. Maybe that is a function of pay to play, but not lack of coming through with dollars.

Of the remaining 2 transfers, one was ranked 384. The other was good, but it was also inevitable that some of those top kids were going to transfer due to being over-ranked and not winning a job quickly/realizing they are not going to win the job. Others will always transfer over being away from home, drugs, girlfriends, etc.
So, while A&M has a ton of transfers, most are likely due to the opposite: that class last year pushed a bunch of guys on the roster out who now realize the younger guys will be taking their spots and they will likely never play absent injuries.
Much of what you say has to be true, re NIL. It's not "you get paid one million dollars over four years no matter what". It's "you get paid if you play and meet other criteria". No school is going to hand these kids one million a season for nothing. No way.

i absolutely DESPISE what that court ruling has turned into. might as well just disassociate from college altogether and call cfb the NFL minor league, thats all it is now.

There is a suit in California now that is just starting up but talking heads think has legs. Basically would make them employees of the University on a contract that would cut through a lot of the BS. May never go anywhere.

On the surface I deplore this idea…. but with the way things are going I might actually be in favor of it.

This is what I've been pointing to as a potential issue. Who would pay $1m for a guy on the bench. Don't you have to be the starter to get the money?

The schools aren’t paying them. The boosters are.

Employment laws in that socialist state have no bearing on state schools in the rest of the country.

I need to see the rest of the video. It looks like he makes a miraculous recovery landing on his knees and hands but the amount of rotational momentum seems like he would keep flipping.

I heard it about that. With that you can look forward to player unions, collective bargaining, walkouts, strikes and more fun...

Without wanting to make this too political, it wasn't an accident that for years, the various talking heads in sports were crying "racism" that players weren't able to make money and college football is a multi-billion dollar industry.

That it is...but it also supports every other NCAA sport. Football dollars ensure funding for women's tennis, men's track & field, etc. Not just at UF...at every other school.

Semantics. If boosters agreed to “no matter what” deals, it’s bad business. Why would NIL deals have fewer stipulations than an NFL contract. One could. But that would be mismanagement. Could an organization be faced with a prospect showing them a contract from another offer that seems to contain no restrictions? I imagine. But would either NIL party be making a huge mistake potentially structuring an agreement with no meaningful restrictions then end up on the hokk for a lot of money? Seems so. I hope we don’t do it. That’s my point, regardless of who technically pays the bill.

Regardless if this is an NIL problem and it is a funding issue this is a terrible look for us and huge negative recruiting potential. If it's contract semantics then we definitely need to put personnel in place to make sure this doesn't happen. Regardless this will be used against us no matter how it turns out.

The question then ought to be, "Should football have to support those other programs?" The are plenty of school with no football program and they somehow are able to have other sports.

I think you'll notice there's a distinct difference in the schools that focus only on secondary sports and lack a football team vis a vis the bigger schools that have a football program and use the cash inflow to support other sports.

Plus, the NCAA distributes BILLIONS to its member programs every year in guaranteed subsidies, which plug in budget gaps at pretty much every program (if memory serves, only about 10 schools are fully self-sufficient and use no funding). I think we all know where the vast majority of that cash is generated from, so even if schools don't have a football program, they're reliant on ones that do to help pay the bills.

Lagaway seems like a true Gator and wants to be here anyway. Might be best if Rashada is so concerned about his NIL to cut bait with him now and not let this linger any longer.
