Look, I prefer Gundy out of those two but Fedora took over two teams on probation. His work may actually be better.
That being said, OSU is decidedly the little sister to Oklahoma and also lives in the shadow of Texas. When Saban left Michigan State he referred to never being the the flagship of the state always having to split talent (at best) in the state with Michigan. The effect is real and it's much harder to recruit at a place like that.
I wonder if you handed Gundy elite talent what he could do with him because he definitely wins more than he "should".
I would be happy with either.
Southern Miss wasn't on probation when Fedora took over, nor were they on probation anywhere near that time. Their program was on solid footing, having gone bowling something like 9 out of the previous 10 seasons. Jeff Bower had built a very solid program that Fedora walked into. I'll pass on Fedora.
