As you can imagine because of recruiting, the active college coaches have to interview in a discreet manner - it isn't going to be announced unless they get the job, period. Those claiming it hasn't happened are simply being kept in the dark.
Mullen has already interviewed for all six NFL openings. Within an hour of the Eagles firing Peterson today to open up job #7, Mullen's agent was the first one they called. He'll be interviewing there tomorrow - he was on a flight to Philadelphia tonight. Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie has always been enamored with Mullen and has spoke very highly of him on several occasions.
Sources tell me that he may be offered more than the $9 million a year the Panthers gave Matt Rhule. If there's a bidding war among the teams (some think at least 3 teams want Mullen, and maybe as many as 5), he may end up with 11, or possibly even 12 million per.
Also, and you heard it here first, Dak Prescott doesn't want to sign a long-term contract with Dallas because he wants to go as a free agent to wherever Mullen lands. Jerry Jones knows this and has even considered making a play for Mullen himself. Let's just say you couldn't pull a greased needle out of Mike McCarthy's a**hole right now.
He's the hottest commodity in the NFL in many, many years.
