Just heard a report on NBC from Matt Lauer who interviewed Lochte. Sounds like he's doubling down and adamantly denying that he made it up. I think I believe him even if he may have embellished the story a bit.

Sounds like there's some inconsistencies to this story. Although Lockte is back in the state, 2 other swimmers were taken off their plane and detained.

Lochte should have read the travel warnings from the state department before visiting that third world sh1thole. Taxis corroborate with thieves all the time there.

Seems like the Brazilian government cares more about trying to prove some American swimmers wrong than it did about creating a safe and stable environment in which to hold the f*cking Olympics.

Brazillian Gov issued a warrant to cancel the victims' passports. But Locte was already back in the U.S.
So, is he now on a "no-fly" list. These boys were through with Olympic competition and were out revelling
as tourists. Probably nothing to indicate to natives that they were U.S. Olympians. Thieves probably were
just robbing money carrying tourists.

The FBI supposedly sat in on the Brazillian Police questioning the victims. All agreed that the police
gave indication no further questioning was needed. Apparently after overnight consultation, probably
with the Tourism PR Czar, more twisted questioning was needed to discredit the victims' story.

There is nothing for them to gain, but Brazil who has already had one Olympian robbed of his metal and a few other Olympic tourist robbed seems to be in full spin mode. Locte isn't the most intelligent man, but to make this up seems dumb for even him.

Agreed - if he were by himself and told this story, I might have a little concern but with three other guys?
If anything, Lochte would have tried to make up a story to make himself look better, but I don't see that either.
Might he have embellished some pieces? Maybe. but overall - nothing really to gain by lying about this event.

More important question... what the hell was he thinking with this?

News starting to break that Lochte made the story up, and was seen on video fighting with security at a gas station.
