You guys think I'm dumb. Well, I am....but not THAT dumb.

I know damn well Franks will start the season. I will be behind him 100%, despite my annoyances with him. I do think he's going to have a tougher sled than some of you seem to think. He had a lot of problems last year, and defenses are going to be more prepared. We'll see what happens. I think it's safe to say Emory will get regular playing time, so it could be fun mixing it up with two QB's.

I was thinking about Franks today. I was wondering why his "shushing" thing bothered me so much. The conclusion I came to was that it was a particular punch to the gut after what UF fans have been through for the past decade. Let's face it, the Muschamp and Butters eras weren't just bad; they were embarrassing, cringe-worthy football. Gator fans were forced to shove their noses into piles of dung and try and convince everyone that it smelled like roses. No matter how bad it got, Gator fans kept showing up, supporting the team. None of us missed a single minute of that garbage football. Bull Gators kept donating away for some reason. Foley refused to fire the Chimp and when even he decided it couldn't go on, he replaced him with the biggest mouthbreathing idiot that has ever graced a sideline, and told Gator fans to suck it up.

We had to listen to jackasses all over the country claim that Gator fans were spoiled, that nobody took "winning" as hard as Gator fans. We had to listen to people claim that no coach wanted to come here because of the fans, that Spurrier quit because of the fans, that Meyer bailed out because of the fans, that John F. Kennedy was assassinated by Gator fans on the grassy knoll.

It's always the fans. We suck. We have no business even living. We should just shut up and enjoy Chimp & Butters football. We won the east, how could you possibly complain?

After TEN YEARS of this crap, us Gator fans were fed up. We were on edge. We weren't giving anyone a break because we were so used to disappointment. This was what Jeremy Foley had turned the fan base into.

So when Franks, who had been horrific for most of his playing career, had the gall to tell those fans in the stands to shut up, it really bothered me. Those fans had been there through thick and thin, through All Kinds of Weather, to be more exact. Those fans had been dragged through some of the worst football anyone had ever seen, and kept showing up. Those fans keep giving money to an athletic department who had really let them down and taken them for granted. You are going to tell THOSE FANS to shut up? We were used to hearing it from our rivals, now we have to hear it from our OWN players in our OWN friggin' stadium?

It bugged me. It still bugs me. I'm tired of the false perception of Gator fans, because it's unfair. It's unfair to those who would never miss a single snap of Gator football.

Actually, I’d say more than a few.

And this time a year ago I thought he was a total bust. Now our debate is about his ceiling. Step in the right direction?;)

Definitely. I thought he would be improved but was surprised at how much progress he made. It wasn’t always smooth but it was improvement. I’m more confident this year. Mullen said last year before game 1 that it would be this season before FF would have a real grasp of the offense. I trust that assessment.

Can’t speak for others but I’ve always known you knew Franks was going to start.

I also believe he and EJ will both play. EJ is too good to stay off the field.

No need to go into it again as I’ve always made it clear the shush never offended me in the slightest.

I always put it this way to my friends.... Gator fans get crazy on social media and message boards but there is no fan base more invested on game day. It’s why I say my gator weekends are epic. Whether it is at the Swamp, or local Gator bar or my backyard....it’s ON my friend. We scream, cuss and get wild. Always a good time.

Fans, thousands in attendance, hundreds in social media funnel doom-gloom upon Franks, one nervous on-stage youngster. So he worries enough to project back, one kid disseminating one put-down divided among thousands of adults.?? Oh the unjust effrontery, from such a wag.

Recent gator history is fun. We went from top of the world and the envy of all back to average. But the average was seen as the WORST ever. It was being compared to Steve's regime. We all knew how to win at football. Pitch it around. Get WR's into space. Go five wide. Simple sht. Except you were competing in the toughest league in the nation without a genius at the helm who's balls were bigger than 3 of the next coaches. Gator fans have always been long suffering. Before SOS it was ......let's see.............FCKKKINGG FOREVER...........even when we got good they told us we cheated (meaning we began playing by bamaUGAaubUTlsu rules)...........which was almost worse than being average. Fans are fans. Our bandwagon got heavy after Steve showed up. Tickets were bought like candy at the DG. When we became pedestrian the crying and gnashing of teeth began. THrow in the interweb and socialist media and it seemed turrible. I can tell you that suffering bad times makes good times even better. It is a journey and a process and MUCH MORE difficult than it seems to be great. Lots of invested teams are in the mix. Places with money just like us and some of that $$$$ aint kosher if you KNOW WHAT I mean. 10 yrs was tough. But tough people get through it. What happened those 10 yrs was not Frank's fault. He hung in there in spite of fan perceptions and bad coaching. He lived it. We just sit back and arm chair QB it. He wasn't shsshing me cause I dont boo my team. I boo the refs and the other team. I know how hard football practice is in Fla. I know how bad they want to win. I dont think for a minute they want to win any less than the fan base does. We all react to and see Fla football in different ways. It has been a passion of mine since SOS was throwing it to Charles Casey. It gets in your blood. One thing I learned about is it will break your heart and also make you swell with pride at times.
.............neath the orange and blue victorious our love will never fail.......there's no other name so GLORIOUS.........all HAIL...... FLORIDA ..... HAIL.

This was before my time in Gainesville, but I'm sure it was awful. You finally win the SEC and they take it away.

Good God ... what a load of selfish, hypocritical bowl of stinky ox poo. You talk about how horrible the coaching had been and all the misery you as a fan had to go through like that is all that matters. Yet not once do you extend that same miserable situation to the players and Franks. You have talked crap about him for his entire career because of his horrible play and how he has the actual nerve to tell you to shush when you are actively booing him ON HIS FIELD? That really kinda makes you the one validating those jackasses you whine about above who say Gator fans are spoiled. Well ... reading the above ... it sure kinda sounds like its true with your argument on why you still complain about Franks shushing you. Hell ... I would shush you too ... but it would be the middle finger over my lips. Jeesh ... all he did was put his finger over the lips.

So ... while you were being miserable looking from the outside in ... guys like Franks were even more miserable ... I promise. And not only do they have to put up with the crap butters was doing ... they have to listen to fans booing them on their home field?

Come on ... stop being a ninkumpoop and get over it. You are the first to jump on anyone who complains about how Meyer left the program and call them jilted lovers ... well ...
