By most reports the first team oline has been solid in run blocking, but the numbers tell a completely different story. This is why I pay very little attention to spring practice. I'll wait till the season opener to find out what we really have.

I think that the first team OL will be solid, however we probably need at least one OL transfer just for depth and spelling the starters. Now we will be getting some more OL for the summer but I don't think they will be ready. We cannot afford any injuries on the OL. Hevesy seems to really like his OL he thinks they are talented but they just needs the reps and experience.

Our defense will be very good this year.

I suppose he still might after spring but he could certainly be playing somewhere..
Really? You think there are a lot of coaches not named McElstain hoping to sign kids who haven't started since middle school? He isn't going anywhere.

They all took turns with the 1s and the 2s both on offense and defense. Except for Jalon. He was working with the 3s and 4s.
I've seen the videos of the TDs. To Jaylen Jackson vs the 3s or 4s or over McWilliams (who unfortunately is running with the 2s).

No stats against McWilliams should count, for any of the QBs. He needs to be encouraged to find another team or more likely another sport.

I have not seen any videos of the scrimmage. Do you have a link?

Is Brad Stewart running with the ones or the twos in safety? Because Franks completed a TD and then an Int against him.

Billy is really good at teaching receivers to block.

That's really all we need. Has he ever had a 1000 yard receiver? Most years a 400-500 yard guy is his best.

You made me look...

2005 Chad Jackson 900yds
2006 Dallas Baker 920
2007 Percy 858
2008 Murphy 655, Percy 644
2009 Cooper 962, A-Hern 850
2010 LSU Tolliver 579
2011 LSU Randle 917
2012 Illinois Lankford 469
2013 MSU Lewis 923
2014 MSU Wilson 680
2015 MSU Ross 1007, Wilson 980
2016 MSU Ross 917
2017 MSU No one over 300

So yes, just one 1000+ since 2005. Not arguing your larger point but his leaders are generally a bit higher than you thought. Interesting.

Good research.....but I think the point that @ltraz made about the OC not being overly concerned w/ throwing the ball is the main reason. I'm sure if Billy G took a job at Oklahoma or Oklahoma State he'd have several 1000 yard WR's.

When opposing defenses have reason to fear how much the quarterback can hurt them with his legs as well as his arm, it affects their game planning. I'm sure that's not lost on our coaching staff.

Right. I wasn’t arguing the larger point, but I was interested to see that even in run-first offenses guys can get 900+ yards. He’s a great position coach.
