Good to hear. He's our top Plan B on the OL. He's a center, so I'm fine w/ his "lower" ranking. MSU always had a solid/tough OL full of blue-collar types (i.e. 3-stars). Add NPF and McDowell and it's a solid OL class (4 total). I'd rather see NPF, Barnes, & Montilus though....

He doesnt have a committable offer yet. I think he’s for sure a back up option. He’s around the 1,400th rated player in the country. We shouldn’t be dipping this low ever

True, but he's also the #22 Center in the country. That's a solid ranking. Auburn just took a 3-star CB who is the #53 CB in the country....and they have a top 10 class right now.

Again, he's a Plan B and if we whiff on NPF, Barnes, Gouraige, and Montilus? I'd rather we take this kid than finish w/ only 1 freshman OL (Bleich).

I hope he's a take anyway. we have three or four OL who need to find another home. he is a smart kid with a nasty streak and feet good enough to play tackle in high school, but it's smart enough that he projects at Center in college. just what we need Imo.

What we don't need are five star prima donnas who shouldn't really even be on the field their first two years and who leave after their third when they had 1/2 to 1 barely proficient year.

Of course, I meant to say PreMadonnas.

Saw where Chase said it's down to Auburn and LSU on signing day, so you can probably take him off the "updated board".

I saw somewhere on Twitter... don't have time to go find it... that Barnes and Montilus are not visiting anymore... I think they are UNC bound anyway.

Damn. I saw on TOS that they were visiting on 2/2 (which would be great).

Florida’s Dan Mullen offers Mississippi State OL commit Griffin McDowell

https://www.seccountry.com/florida/floridas-offers-mississippi-state-commit-griffin-mcdowell

Mississippi State OL commit Griffin McDowell (middle left) with Florida coach Dan Mullen (far left) and John Hevesy (far right).

Another Mississippi State commit has been targeted Florida coach Dan Mullen.

Griffin McDowell, a 3-star offensive guard from Leesburg, Ga., landed an offer from the Gators on Thursday after visiting with Mullen and offensive line coach John Hevesy at Lee High School.

The 6-foot-4, 280-pound committed to Mullen and Hevesy last summer when they were at Mississippi State. McDowell is one of three MSU class members who did not sign early with the Bulldogs in December.

McDowell officially visited Mississippi State last weekend and is now expected to check out the Gators before making a final decision on his recruitment. Hevesy also met with him last Thursday and the two have a strong relationship.

McDowell isn’t the first MSU commit that Mullen has pursued since taking the Florida job. He flipped kicker Evan McPherson last month and also targeted wide receivers Stephen Guidry and Malik Heath, but they decided to stick with the Bulldogs.

The Gators currently have three offensive linemen in their 2018 class: 4-star offensive tackle Richard Gouraige and mid-year enrollees Noah Banks and Chris Bleich. Florida is also targeting 5-star offensive tackle Nicholas Petit-Frere, 4-star offensive lineman William Barnes and 3-star offensive guard Ed Montilus.
