If Tennessee ends up spending all that money for this to happen, everyone up in Cooterville will be saying it is a sign of the apocalypse! I hope it happens and Leach wins the PAC-10 . Currie will come out smelling like roses and hopefully writing his memoirs entitled “Rocky Flop: my 9 month journey through the bowels of hell. Forward by Lane Kiffin”. Volnation will be epic comedy. And best of all...Phat Phil will be smoking cigars as AD after sabotaging their best chance at relevance. I think he is going to take over and use the same brilliance that brought us the Clawfense in his waning days. #VolTwitter really thinks they saved the place and they literally burnt it to the ground.

Not sure how much of that article was fact or just educated guessing, but you are correct. That was an awesome read, thanks for posting.

They were going to get Gruden!!!!!

Gruden is a state of mind that fits in the Vol biorhythm.

Have the best offseason & spring EVER
Build expectations over the summer
Win the opening game or two before...
Lose to UF & start downward spiral.
Beat Ky, cupcake & Vandy to finish with momentum then...
Have the best offseason & spring ever

Every 3 years or so fire the most recent mistake HC and...
Think lustfully of Jon Gruden until they hire the next mistake

“Gruden” is their Xanadu, a mythical place that lightens the heart.

Just fascinating stuff. So glad it's not us. Now some of their fans are claiming all this idiocy is actually a good thing because they are getting tons of publicity

Competing viewpoints over at Volnation regarding Haslem influence and Fulmer independence...

"Think about how bad TN has been for 9yrs. Think about all the head scratching decisions that have been made over that period of time (Dooley? seriously). Think about how poorly this coach search was handled. Think about the fact that Currie said he was going to get a homerun hire and then tried to walk Schiano out. Think about the debates about Currie vs Blackburn and how that unfolded with Currie coming out of left fied (similar to Schiano coming out of left field?). Hamilton mishandling Bruce situation. And so much more.

Now, what is the common denominator of all these bad decisions?

Jimmy Haslam.

Some he was directly involved in (see Currie & Schiano). Others are a by-product of his bad decisions and leadership (Hamilton mishandling everything because he was inept: see bruce, see Kiffin only having a $900k buy-out). Today his grip of over our program was lessened. Fulmer is not a Haslam yes man. Davenport naming Fulmer instead of Sigmon was a sign that she is willing to buck the Haslam influence as well, this is huge! It was a full on coup by the boosters to take back control of the AD and rid it of the incompetence of Haslam. Now this was just a battle victory, the war has not been won but enjoy this victory friend.

Also, know that things had to get ugly before they could get better. This was because Haslam refused to relent in his control. Things may still be ugly for awhile too. The past 10yrs under that tyrant has severely damaged the program but rest easy because the same people that have been making the decisions the past 10yrs are no longer in control. The decisions being made by Fulmer and the new regime are truly for the best interest of the program and university. Don't pay attention to the national and even a lot of the local media, Haslam and Sexton are powerful people that will try to paint people involved in a negative light. It is already being done by Feldman, Forde, etc.

These events are much bigger than one coach, it was about who had say in the decisions being made and what their true intentions are. Alas, this was just a battle victory the snake is still in the grass. Hopefully Fulmer and the faction of boosters that are against Haslam can completely eradicate his influence"

Vs

"Be happy when we get a competent coach. I'm still mad that we have likely screwed up and won't get Leach, who simply makes every program he touches much much better than he finds it and plays damn exciting football.

The people who keep saying this is a blow against the Haslam's need to read Travis' story from earlier. The Haslam's abandoned Currie, that's why he was fired. No other reason. As Travis pointed out, AD interviews were held in Bill Haslam's office with he, Jimmy and Peyton. Bill Haslam, as governor can remove DiPietro, Davenport, Currie or whomever he wishes. He can also fill the entire UT BoT. If you think what happened today happened without Haslam approval, I've got a bridge with a great view of Neyland for sale."

Wouldn't you think that at this point UT will have to hire an up and coming assistant coach to take over the program? Whether it's Tee Martin or someone else. Any current head coach who agrees to that job will realize that he is choice number 12 or lower. All these guys have big egos and wouldn't be thrilled to be viewed as the last man standing in the search. Not to mention the dysfunction within the athletic department despite Phil's ascension which UT fans believe will solve all their problems (as well as ending world hunger).

And of course their fan base is going to spin Phil's appointment as a positive development that will be good for them in the long run. What else can they say about the continuing soap opera that their coaching search has become?

As long as Haslam is pulling his billionaire strings from behind the curtain, they are screwed. He either gets his way or threatens to pull funding for facilities.

You look at all this and you shake your head. How could so many parties to one f*ck up this bad? On top of it all, you've now got Manning on record as having supported the Schiano hiring.

Tennessee, still without a football coach after scouring the Pop Warner leagues for willing victims, is at risk of spending gobs of money in court fighting Schiano over a statement of understanding that wasn't signed by the university chancellor. Is it binding or isn't it?

A cluster of apocalyptic proportion.

UT is likely on a LOOOONNNNNGGGG road to recovery.
Just a reminder

Blue Chip prospects in the entire state of Tinerc: 12 (and this is an above average year for them)
Florida:73

3 of those bluechippers are committed to Tinerc and 2 to Vandy, 5 are smart enough to go out of state.

Hope this video hasn't been posted before. It should have it's own thread titled. "University Chancellor Discovers Football is More Important than Academics...Almost Passes out at Presser"
