We ran 40 times and passed 38. That's not balanced?
38 freakin times of wasting plays as long as Harris is our QB. Dude should not be throwing the ball more than 12-15 times in the whole game.....and most of those should be off play action and 30 or more yards downfield. Balance only works when all pieces are equal, OL, RB's, WR's and most importantly......QB. I understand what this coaching staff is trying to do and I am Ok with it in the long run, however last night's game wasn't a test run where it's Ok to sh1t the bad....It was The Battle to take back Florida, a freakin rivalry game and in that situation you put the project back in the lab and throw the ****ing kitchen sink at the school that has OWNED this state and the SEC for 6 god damned years....
BTW, the "new balanced offense" won't work either until we get the best in state players to run it and that ain't happening until we beat them on the field...

For the love of Pete, people, we're less than one year into a massive reclamation and rebuilding project. The previous doosh not only ran the program into the ground, but he managed to stomp on and sh!t on the very spirit of the Gator Nation. Words cannot describe how truly awful he was and if you need a reminder, go watch his "performance" in the 4th quarter of yesterday's Iron Bowl. (seriously, that dude needs a good ass kicking)

And, just when some momentum was building on a special season, we hit a massive bump in the road - apparently at one of the Gainesville GNC stores. And yet and still, we won the East and 10 games. We beat the Humpers and continued the streak against the Chuggers. Our two losses came against top-25 teams. Mac is one of 3 coaches to win an SEC division in his first year. CUM didn't do it. Mac won 10 games in his first year. SOS and CUM couldn't do it.

What the hell more do you want?? In Year One of a massive rebuild??

Treestump is undersized and can't make many of the throws. When he does throw the ball he is usually wildly inaccurate. He is slow at making his reads and when he does finally decide where to go with the ball, he has much taller defenders in his face - or he throws into coverage. He is a poor facsimile of an SEC-caliber QB and no amount of coaching is going to change that. There are too many problems with Treon to mold him into an SEC QB. But given he hasn't been yanked, he must give us the best chance to win.

So, we end up having to "coach around" our QB with a poor OL that can't run block and doesn't have the credible threat of a passing game to take pressure off the run game.

Yes, we've looked awful on offense in recent weeks, but really, what could we expect with the personnel we have on offense and with our stud QB in PED prison??

Yet we've won 10 games. 10 friggin games! Mac is a friggin miracle worker.
Are you crazy breath, we suck we are the worst team on earth. Treon needs to die. Our coach cannot coach him up. It is all Mac's fault. Treons fault. Griers fault and anyone else you can name cause those FCKN SHTENOLES embarrassed us last night. We want blood because we deserve better cause we are brilliant gator fans with needs........we need to beat all of our rivals the first year of his tenure......it is only fair.........everyone knows all our WRs are open every time the QB drops back.. We all played sandlot football and we were always open. Quit giving us facts and the reality of this year........we hate Treon and the coaching now. Cue to the "fans" that talk like this

Wildcat to Taylor, 2 fullbacks, 2 TEs, 1 wideout for quick screens and jet sweeps, then run run run the damn ball. It's not like we've got a quarterback who can throw to anybody anyway, so the receivers are just a waste of bodies and space.

Yeah, I know it's stupid and it won't happen, but at this point, it seems like our best bet to stay competitive.

Wow. CCG long time!

I wouldn't mind seeing some different packages just to mix things up, but realistically I can't see this or anything else having much success behind a middling O Line. I'm trying to think of the last time I've seen somebody run the wildcat with any level of ongoing success.

The initial recruiting cycle counts as half since he's coming in late. He needs two more before you can legitimately tee off on the guy.
I'm not teeing off on him. I want him to succeed more than anything because it's damn hard to get a good coach, damn hard. Just ask UGA and LSU. There can only be one team on top and everyone is trying to get there, so at "elite" programs, 10 win coaches are fighting for their lives. But the last 2 games were his worst, and getting shut out other than a Safety at home...to FSU....is a serious mar on his record. That had to set some negative records along with his positive ones.

It's a score sheet. Do more good (recruit, win, clean program) than bad (players suspended, get shut out at home to main rival, fail to recruit adequately at key positions) and you'll have job security. I will be the first to say he gets 2 more seasons even if we finish with a 3 game losing streak and 2 of the most embarrassing offensive games I've seen us play (FAU and FSU). But he needs to win and win big in 2017 or in 2018 there might be someone new in his office.

He only had 2 weeks. It shouldn't count at all, even though he still managed to squeeze out a top 20 class. You just can't please Gator fans unless you're winning the SEC and NC every year.

We got 134 yards on those 38 passes and 136 yards on the 40 carries.
Running usually has a cumulative effect on a defense. If we had run 55 times we probably would have had 200-250 yards rushing because longer runs get broken when defenses tire....We also would have had more passing because it is easier to throw over the top when defenses sell out to stop the run.....See 2012 FSU game for complete explanation.....

I think Mac and Nuss know that given their histories. I also think that they (accurately IMO) judged that our OL will never wear anyone out.

With another year in the weightroom for our OL (even though we will still have the youngest OL in the conference next year) and with the addition of bruisers like McGriff and Mark Thompson, I suspect we will have that aspect to add to our game. You should be getting hot and wet just thinking about it.

You can't be serious about Mac? He is the answer and he is REALLY good. Have you seen our O throughout the year? Take last night for example, even with a "gifted" individual at QB we had a run game AND route combos with WR and TEs wide open. You must not remember when the forward pass was a hush word in Gainesville. Grier screwed us, we were one QB away from the playoffs and possibly undefeated going into playoffs.

Let's just take the rest of this year as it comes and try not to have a cow about every little thing. Next week will be a nice vacation and reward for the team, regardless of the potential beating. A few weeks off to get healthier and I think we'll show up better for the Whatever Bowl. Should be fine with recruiting despite what some think, then on to next year. Tabula rasa. Some players will leave, probably even some coaches so let's don't even worry about next year until all that dust settles.

Stop being intellectually lazy. You know more about football than that. KT and the other backs got 143 yards on 27 carries. The rest of those "40 carries" were sacks or scrambles on pass plays where a pass wasn't thrown. Maybe one or two of those were designed QB runs. This is why sacks in the NFL count against passing stats rather than running stats like they do in college.

Okay, everyone take a deep breath. In......out......

Mac wasn't dealt a good hand this year, we all knew it. No OL, and Grier getting suspended was the nail in the coffin of any real chance we had, and that's something you can't pin on Mac. Calling for his firing at this point is lunacy. NO college coach gets judged on his first year, even if they lose every game - and we won 10 of them. Obviously he isn't getting fired, so continuing to float the idea out there is only going to create a lot of useless drama and name calling. It's a waste of bandwidth.

As far as Treon, it's probably just a combination of disastrous QB's behind him combined with a loyalty that Mac feels he needs to show. Maybe he feels benching him will upset the team, who knows?

I still feel the program is headed in the right direction.

Ok, but who called for his firing? I just see people recognizing that our Coaches are responsible for the Good and Bad...... That's why they make millions..

'Crete be serious. Do you really think running the ball every down would have been effective? C'mon man your smarter than that. Our O line isn't going to wear anybody out. And then you're suggesting that we run to set up the pass. Even when receivers are open, Treon can't find them.

As far as Treon running more he had 11 carriers for -5 yards. There's a narrative out there that Treon is some kind of great running threat. Probably because he does nothing well and on busted plays he takes off running. On designed QB keepers he gets nailed. He's no quarterback and he damn sure is no running back.

No he is not. If we continued running Muschimp (or Bert Bielema) ball, he'd be more than happy.

@RobbieAndreu: "Treon is going to prepare this week and play a heck of a game in this SEC Championship Game," McElwain said.

McElwain just said this at a teleconference. He must be trying to make people laugh at this point

Taking away the sacks and such we averaged over 5 yards per carry.....5 yards per carry!!!!. We would have had them gassed, instead of our defense being gassed, in the 4th quarter.
Football 101....if you are playing a team that is better(offensively) than your team, you should always try to shorten the game(i.e. run the ball) especially when you're having a some success doing so.....And positively NONE throwing the ball.....It's easy as that.
