Taking away the sacks and such we averaged over 5 yards per carry.....5 yards per carry!!!!. We would have had them gassed, instead of our defense being gassed, in the 4th quarter.
Football 101....if you are playing a team that is better(offensively) than your team, you should always try to shorten the game(i.e. run the ball) especially when you're having a some success doing so.....And positively NONE throwing the ball.....It's easy as that.

I have to agree here. As bad as Treon was throwing the ball, I would've ran the ball all night long with Taylor, Cronkrite, Scarlett.

No he is not. If we continued running Muschimp (or Bert Bielema) ball, he'd be more than happy.
:headslap:Dude seriously, have you seen Bert's offense over the last 6 games? I'd give my left nut for our offense to look anything like theirs, especially at QB.

So basically you're saying Jimbo is as stupid as Richt (okay I'll give you that's not a far leap) and wouldn't have adjusted if we ran every down. Do you think our average would still be 5 yards per carry if we ran every down? The pass, or at least the threat of a pass, sets up the run. It works both ways.

It's a score sheet. Do more good (recruit, win, clean program) than bad (players suspended, get shut out at home to main rival, fail to recruit adequately at key positions) and you'll have job security.

I bet Richt thought the same thing...

Well, I still need my left nut. So, I guess I live with the abysmal production for now

You can't run on every down but there appears to have been an argument for running on 1st down last night. I charted our possessions and here's what I came up with:

6 rushes for 38 yards
3-of-8 passing for 14 yards

FSU came into the game ranked 21st against the pass and 38th against the run. That's both at home and on the road. How they did on the road, where they've struggled all season, could be another story. My guess is the coaching staff saw something on film they thought they could exploit or wanted to go against the grain to keep FSU honest on defense.

No facts, Law. You should know this by now.
Is it a fact that at least ten of those 40 "rushes" were passing plays where treon simply wasn't able to throw the ball? Or is that just a myth?

Better question is, how much experience do Mac and Nussy have coaching dual-threat quarterbacks? I'm guessing not much.

At this point, can we really call Treon "dual-threat"?

If I had to guess, the D Coordinators have enough film where they have figured out his tendencies, and Treon doesn't have enough tools to be able to adapt. I think this is part of what happened to Driskel also. Once D Coordinators figured out how to blow him up, he could never recover.
