And yet Mac will have had nine players suspended, at the same time, for an entire season, many of whom will never play for UF again when it's all said and done.
And his starting QB fail an NCAA drug test. Ever heard of that happening with any other HC?

Won't have to worry about Creyer whining his way into the playoffs this year. The slow descent which started towards the end of last season for Creyer is just picking up steam.

No kidding. In a worse-case scenario, the Buckeyes may actually lose 3 whole games in a season. The horror!

Mac was so bad he could lose two games on any given Saturday.

We lost two games in 2012 and you guys were ready to string Muschamp up by his thumbs.
Not sure what your point is. Meyer has 3 titles on his resume.

My point was, I keep hearing about the "decline" of OSU, as if Meyer can win the NC every season. Three losses is considered an awful season for him.

Conflicted about Meyer's legacy in what way? Urban provided us with some of the best years in UF's history and I certainly wouldn't trade them for much. Do I enjoy watching Urban choke on the national stage? Sure, but he is/was a hell of a coach and while he didn't leave UF in the best state, if Foley hired a good coach post Urban, they wouldn't have had trouble rebuilding the program. But Foley went shopping at the Dollar Store for coaches and the rest is history.

If anything, you should be questioning Foley's legacy.

Wow, memories sure are short. Or selective. But since you acknowledge that UF wasn’t left in the best state (Meyer’s word was “broken”), I don’t think a bill of particulars is necessary. I’ll repeat: criticism of Urban should not be conflated with being ungrateful for the great football that he brought to Gainesville. The championships he won are legitimate. His stewardship of the program? Not so much.

Foley’s failures are a different subject.

He lost at least three games half of his seasons here. Obviously the other three seasons were championships and 13-1, but he didn’t become unbeatable every year until he joined the B1G.

I'm not aware of any NCAA infractions during his six seasons, so I'm not sure how the Meyer legacy can be considered tarnished by anything other than his own personal struggle with stress.

Not that anyone on this board has ever wrestled with that subject.

My take is Meyer was hired to put the pedal to the metal, and no one -- Spurrier included -- ever did it better over such a short period of time.
He took recruiting and coddling of thugs to a new level. In case you forgot, we are the only program in the history of college football linked to a mass-murderer. He quit on the program bailed and bad-mouthed the program, town and fans when he left. He actively tried to use his relationship with Tebow to sabotage us and promote tPOSU. He was a complete prick with the press when all they were doing was their job.

Yes, we benefited and I am happy with the Chips, but lets not pretend why it's so hard to figure out why he might not be that popular with current fans, or pretty much anyone but Ohio State fans (and he's dropping quickly with them).

And please don't try to compare Meyer to what SOS brought, did and means to the program.

I did mention to him in '08 that Hernandez was destined to knock off at least two.

Give me a break. Bad-mouthed, Tebow. Who cares?

With all due respect OX, losing 3 or more games a year at OSU is a bad season. Yes the Big 10 has gotten a little better, but OSU is far and away above any team in that conference (along with MICH), in having huge advantages in every aspect regarding football.

Seriously, I want everyone and anyone who openly questioned Meyer's coaching methods at any point between 2005 and 2008 to come forward right now with proof that you were that principled that you couldn't stand the thought of what the man was doing to the program.

And I expect no one to come forward. This is all so revisionist now that he's gone.

Are you kidding? We had an absolute blast during that time. The Tebow era was a Golden Age of Gator football.

This blast you refer to. What kind of gun do you figure was involved?

They would prefer Chump or Butters because they were more personable.

I forgot, Hernandez was a great guy in Conn and Gainesville, spent his time visiting kids in the hospital and working in the big brother program. It's too bad about his unexpected mental break,

On Sept. 30, 2007, around 2:20 a.m., Gainesville residents Randall Cason, Justin Glass and Corey Smith were driving in a 1997 white Ford Crown Victoria after leaving the popular club The Venue, according to GPD records.

Records show Cason and his friends got into an altercation with a group of University of Florida football players at some point during the night.

Cason told police a black Chevy Tahoe pulled up behind the vehicle he was riding in while at a red light on West University Avenue. He said two men then stepped out of the Tahoe.

One man, he identified as Nelson, who had recently been drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The other, Cason said, was a large, muscular, “Hawaiian” or “Hispanic” man with “lots of tattoos.”

The “Hawaiian” man, Cason said, pulled out a gun and fired four to five shots into the passenger side of the Crown Victoria, records show.
