He is that last kid in the corner while you are picking teams in school.
Known mediocre. His offense were mehhh at Texass.Solid hire. I'd be happy if I was an Auburn fan. The only downside is he doesn't have SEC ties. Other than that, landing a proven 8 year head coach is much better than taking a risk on a coordinator.

He will steuggle to recruit.
Three years, tops.
that's basically your resumeNot some random position coach who's daddy was famous.
And now he's available.Yeah, I’m not sure one way or the other here. I don’t think he’s dreadful, but again, as always, if they truly liked him that much they wouldn’t have interviewed everyone on the planet before. So it’s a bit of a tough sell to the fans. And as I’ve pointed out in this thread, Malzahn was like 3-4 against Saban, played for a NC and played for 2 SECs(winning 1). So he’s not stepping into a situation where modest improvements will be rewarded. And as ltraz mentioned, it seems like everyone wins at Boise, but rarely succeed elsewhere. It could be decent. But the could definitely also backfire.
Gus moving to Tinerc would suck some. And now he's available.
And Pittman will be the best out of the bunch and move up in 2 more years.Who TF knows (other than Donkey, who knows everything)? In the last two years we saw the SEC hire: Shane Beamer, Sam Pittman, Eli Drinkwitz, Clark Lea, and now Harsin.
I think that's fair. He's obviously not as accomplished as Malzahn but he's probably as good of a coaching prospect as there is.I wouldn't call it a bad hire, but I wouldn't call it an improvement either. I'll be impressed if he matches Malzahn's accomplishments.
