I have always thought that what Updyke did was ignorant, immature, and misguided. Did I think it deserved prison time? No, because there are other "crimes" that go unpunished, or under punished that IMO rank ahead of killing some trees. Am I ashamed of him? To be totally honest, NO. I am not. IMO, he doesn't represent the Bama nation even though he claimed to be a fan. Big deal. I'm sure Ted Bundy was a Gator fan too but he didn't represent the Gator nation. Or did he? Updyke acted alone in his actions to kill those trees. He didn't have any help from other Bama fans at all that I am aware of so why should I be ashamed of him? He is/was nothing to me.
