It makes me laugh when you keep acting like Cam left because coaches weren't playing him. Its like you are saying you think they should have sat Tebow and played Cam in the #2 behind Leak. It also makes me laugh that you keep acting as if he was going to get kicked out because of the laptop when it was the cheating he got caught doing and the summons to appear in front of the honor board and most likely kicked out. So he left.

Report: Newton was caught cheating at Florida
FWIW I took a Russian Lit class because I heard it was easy. Every offensive lineman on the team and a few others were in that class. The cheating was open and blatant. When reported an assistant coach or grad assistant would show up and take care of things. This was 40 years ago. I suspect if they wanted to keep Newton they would have found a way. Just saying.

Coaches tend to be very risk-adverse. They (rightly) see mistakes as the cause of most losses. But with AR the upside looks so promising it’s worth the risk.

I think this is where Mullen’s at when you hear him harp on AR missing a read on a long touchdown run. And yet all the kid does is make big play after big play with his legs and arm. The perfect deep ball with a USF lineman crashing down on him was the perfect illustration of what this kid is capable of.

Mullen doesn’t get testy when asked about it either. To the contrary, his face lights up, he giggles and playfully asks, “What controversy?” I think he’s loving it all the way to the bank, so to speak. AR is the kind of athlete he’s always dreamt of recruiting. Well, he’s got that athlete now. It’s just a matter of getting him fully up to speed on the finer points of running the RPO.

I mean overall I see the point. Just in case, Leak and Cam were never on campus together and in ‘08, Cam was the #3 behind Brantley. Yes, the coaches put Brantley ahead of Cam…if only we knew who some of those guys were.

But yes, there were several other things like the computer and other university issues beyond football that lead to Cam’s departure.

Per Wikipedia, SCam was injured early in 08 and took a medical redshirt. That was why he was behind Brantley. There's no way Meyer would have started Brantley over a healthy SCam.

I think you give Mullen way too much credit on being clever. You think it's a plan of some sort. I really don't think he has an effing clue what the plan is. He's flying by the seat of his pants.

. Both QBs should be played to make it more difficult for defenses, .
Playing 2 QBs who do the same thing doesnt make it harder on the defenses. The defense doesnt adjust, same reads and keys.

It just makes me laugh out loud that people act like the regime that kept AH after he was the suspect in a shooting in HS then shot two people in his first week in Gainesville couldn't possibly overlook a "stolen" laptop (not actually stolen since it was given/loaned to him and is at worst a civil matter).

Cam did not leave UF because of a laptop.

Cam left because he was facing several counts of academic fraud and was weeks away from being expelled from school.

For the life of me I will never understand why people can’t get this straight.

Write this down. It had nothing to do with a laptop

I've posted this fact a thousand times... like stealing anything ever got a player kicked off a team!

And like honor court means anything. I had friends who were honor court "prosecutors." It doesnt mean shyt. "Charges" were regularly dropped or ignored vs athletes or whenever someone yelled racism.

It is funny you guys can hear Reggie Nelson or Kadarius talk and act they provably finished SR level college work.

It had to do with Urban and Mullen promising playing time, Urban even mentioned it during one of the interviews during spring practice claiming that he intended to use Cam Newton as the third and short quarterback the way he had used Tebow the year before, to save the wear and tear on Tebow.....

..... and they lied.

Trying to pain this as anything but major fuchsup is laughable.

Kist as laughable was.when you soon try to defend running off AR, the second time, "bc doesnt know the playbook".

I think he’s being too cautious for message board mentality. I think it’s inevitable that the snap count swings his direction as we get deeper into the schedule. I’ll be calling for his head if it doesnt.

The laptop is a broad brush metaphor for what Cam was at UF, a royal phuckup.

Detroit wins the Logitech battle with a fancy speaker on his.
that's some carpal tunnel bullschit... but yes, you can see that my dork keyboard is far superior with the 3 device functionality... let alone the carpal tunnel bullschit thing... as for my speakers, they are just "ok"... good enough for listening to my russian/euro chick music! Cam tried to steal my laptop speakers. ;)

Is that what is hanging in your house we saw on those videos?
:inout: j/k

. Here is why that worked. They were player's with different skill sets. You weren't asking Tebow to read defenses and pass. Legitimately Tebow's TD passes in big games in '06 were designed with a single read. You also were about to have Leak take a shotgun snap and plow into the line on 4th and 1. In this case, both players have the same dual threat skills. From our limited viewing, AR15 is superior to EJ in running and passing. We aren't 100% sure on reading the field (though better read option decision making), but we do know that EJ struggles with it at times. If both guys have the same skill sets, but one is about equal, but with a higher ceiling. You should do that.
Good point about the skill differences But not the answer.
In certain situations AR 15 can be effective. In a short yardage situation like the conversion try AR15 in the backfield adds a whole new level of speed and strength. Even with the botched handoff I like ARs chances of getting onto the end zone more than EJs
A whole red zone package can be created with AR15 and EJ in the game. How about a fake run into the line and jump pass or 2? Where have we seen that before?
Their strengths are similar but both can be used to add additional looks that can exploit a defense. I have no clue how Mullen will use him but my guess is that his initial role was to replicate Tebow and his situational play.

More importantly...half the snaps in practice so both come in less prepared and the OL confused.

I’m impressed with how organized your guys’ desks are. Mine’s a bit more disheveled.
