You guys are getting better, must be my extensive Draconian training and tactics. I haven't yet seen one person come swooping in here with their wagging finger out, telling us we're too overconfident leading up to this matchup, as if smack on an anonymous fan message board impacts the game.

They’re just waiting on standby to tell us that we, the message board, shouldn’t overlook Kentucky.

I watched a lot of different videos yesterday talking about the game. One of them, can't remember which, said there's trash coming out of Utah about hurting AR because of our depth. It wasn't like a bounty or anything.

Utah needs to keep AR in the pocket. He's more accurate on the run and his feet can really hurt them.

Who doesn't want to knock out the starting QB?

I realize that, but it's pretty stupid to be saying publicly....if they even did.

Well...I kinda think we are a bit overconfident. Utah is a pretty good team.

We have a totally new coaching staff with new schemes. They have a lot of returning starters and a very good coaching staff. Though the pac12 is a weak conference, we aren't playing the pac12, we are playing their best team.

We have a very young team with serious depth issues on our DL with an opponent who has a lot of returning starters and plays with a lot of success at up tempo.

Salt Lake City has had a serious heat wave for the last week or so and continuing on until Wednesday. Granted, 20 something percent humidity versus the typical 70 and above in Gainesville is a different thing. The forecast, at the moment, has our game starting with temps around high 70s/low 80s with rain and thunderstorms. That isn't the hometown weather forecast we seem to be putting a lot of stock in that is going to melt anyone into submission by halftime. It is a good thing for a team that can run the ball though.

Sounds like we might have some kicking issues.

I dont know who is going to win to be honest but I dont feel comfortable saying we easily win by double digits. What I think we have in our favor is a strong OL with a strong running game and a QB that can improvise. The Swamp will be rocking with a bunch of drunk fans who are crazy hyped to see this team play which should be a very hard test for a team that traveled a long way for a first game.

What do I need to pack for your camp?

I'm certainly not jilted. All my point was is that if Frost had come to UF, I think he would have had far more success. That isn't saying much, as 15-30 is an absolutely horrific and inexcusable record. Nebraska was/is an awful place to coach, they still have NC aspirations and it's never going to happen again, EVER. He was too much of a wussy to say no, and either come to UF or stay at UCF. He's getting what he deserves for being a coward.
I have admitted several times that I wanted Frost after Butters was fired and even more so when we ended up with Cousin Eddie. Would Frost have been better than 15-30 at UF? I'd have to say yes and he would have recruited far better than he does now. But would he have won any titles? I seriously doubt it. And Stricklin would probably have dumped him after four years as well. What do you think Ox? Would he have had a better record or worse than the clown we hired?

Winners ensure their future success in their contracts and agreements, because they can’t stand to lose(see Napier, Meyer/ND 2005). Losers make excuses post their flame out. Ultra losers start laying the ground work well in advance(McElwain, Muschamp).
I hear ya but it took Pell to get UF up to SEC standards for SOS and now its Napier's time.

Cousin Eddie just wanted a paycheck.

Frost should have insisted on what he needed.

This is their biggest advantage over UF (although USC is the best team in the PAC 12, they have 5 times more talent than Utah). In the first game of a brand new system, you never know what you're going to get. This is the one aspect that makes me nervous. The players may not know WTF they are doing yet.

However, UF has the advantage everywhere else - home field, weather, talent, QB, etc.

Protect the ball. Minimize penalties. UF wins.

I still believe Gators win.
I still believe Utah will be favored.
And I still believe the score will be closer than 9.5 pts
Based on Napier at UL, he tends not to have blow-outs.

But what do I know...I just can't wait...the Swamp will be rockin...Napier will have them ready...and ALL will be right with the world.

Pell most likely saw the built in natural advantages that UF had, as others had noted. Nebraska has none. It has history that no kid has ever witnessed, no talent that surrounds them. They had pipelines into CA and TX during their 90s run, which happened to coincide with USC, Ok, Texas and A&M all being down, that subsequently dried up circa 2000. They’re located in a miserable climate area. And they are a complete misfit in their conference. It was a terrible decision to hitch his wagon to that star.
