OUR DL AGAINST THEIR OL:

Following up on the analysis of Utah's OL versus our DL (besides the size issues that have been discussed), and to compare to our team here are the following PFF grades from last year's players still on the team.

C -not in the top 200 (for comparison, Eguakan graded as 19th.
G - None in the top 100, 2 in the 200-250th range, both still on the roster (for comparison, O'cyrus was #1, and if you ignore snap count minimum, Will Harrod was about 30th)
OT - They had one last year ranked 61st, but he is in the NFL now and no one else in the top 250 (for comparison, transfer Hudson and Gouraige were in the 80's. Barber was rated around 195th in the Country)

Banks, McClellan, Watson (was PFF #1 against the run for the SC game week), Jackson, Humphries, and Norman rotating should be able to handle their own in front of Shemar. From there, the weak spot is one of Wingo, Scooby, Robinson, or any of the 3 transfers. But, their job is easier if our DTs are winning.

I think we match up well defensively for this banged up Utah group and what they view as their offensive identity. Passing teams, or outside speed running games (think uga), not so sure.

OUR WR's VS UTAH DBs:

While I have little hope for our offense overall in Utah, we should have a substantial speed and skill advantage at WR (if we can get it to them):

Utah CBs - 3* (#78 CB), Not Ranked at all (though maybe their best CB), 3 star (#29 Ath - projected backup), low 3* (189 CB, 270th in TX, projected backup)
Safeties - 3# (73rd LB), 3* (44th ranked S), low 3* (94th S, projected backup), 4* (25th S, projected backup)
Nickel - 4* WR/Ath (15th ath, legit track speed, about the only guy who would get a decent SEC offer in their DB room), low 3* (85th S, projected backup)

Our WR ranks for Pearsall and Douglas are not high, but we know what Pearsall brings. The difference makers will be if the 3 freshman can play. WR is the easiest spot on the field to play early, especially if they are fast. 247 has them ranked 15, 26 and 58 WRs, but all have legit speed (unless the Himalayan altitude gets to them).

Absolutely and totally ridiculous. The higher ups are VERY happy with the direction of the program. You think they are going to fire a guy 20 games into a rebuild after the complete turnaround of our recruiting?
I dunno but this thread was dying out so.....:rotfl:

BTW do you think this recruiting class sticks around after a 5-6 win season ?

Yes. I think these recruits love the coaching staff and the direction of the program. No one is expecting the Gators to be worldbeaters this season, including those recruits.

I’m not even remotely concerned about the recruiting under Napier.

OK lets go back to the post I replied to.....the chart showed us finishing with a 4-8 record. I simply replied that at worse I have us going 5-7 and probably somewhere in the 7-5 range. If that happens what you said is probably right regarding BN and the recruiting class....

BUT if you think we finish 4-8 and BN shows the same piss poor game management and play calling that
A. He keeps a top 5 class together and

B. After lossing 5 of the last 6 doing so that the fire won't be so hot that there will be wheels put in motion then you have to be more crazy than me......we fired the Shark Humper after winning 2 consecutive Eastern Division titles.

Furthermore the same Meatheads down voting my post will be some of the first ones boiling up a vat of hot tar and getting the torches and pitchforks out before Halloween :rotfl:

I'm pretty sure mentioning your downvotes is a lifetime bannable offense, or at least deserves more downvotes so I did my part.

It was the overall trending of the program under butters and mullen that sent them packing. The opposite is happening now under Napier. It could change but everything he's done so far has been a positive, except the QB room, and he could still prove us wrong on that. I doubt it though.

That whole trending thing tends to happen in less than a half season in Gville...Hell it happens in this forum in less than a quarter of a game :lol2:

If he doesn't coach better than last year and the record gets ugly enough that recruits are falling off the whole thing can go off a cliff quickly. Still, I think we get enough wins to stay out of that situation.

If Karl finishes the second half of the season with a 1-5 stretch he will be gone, I don't care what ANYONE says right now....there will be a new coach search before December...Even I have us finishing at least 5-7 to 7-5 and hopefully better than that. Only Muschamp gets a 4-8 pass....
Theres 32,000,000 reasons why Billy ain’t going no where after this season, so hope for the best Crete he’s ours for a while.

Final scrimmage was today. They’re now working on Utah game prep.

1. EWIII was spectacular. Had a 70 yd catch and run TD

2. Cam Carroll had a monster game before his injury.

3. Pyburn was a beast. 2 sacks.

4. Castell maybe locking down a starting safety position.

5. Ja’Keem Jackson was lights out.

6. RBs were heavily targeted in the pass game.

I could name numerous red flags before both were on the hot seat, it's just to depressing to revisit those days. You're right though, the whole projection of the program can change on one play in the box.
But there's no better place to be than the box when we are winning.

Any news on Carrol? He looked good in the open practice.

Not sure where it was when he was fired but Mac had the number 1 ranked class the summer before his last season.
Oh I remember. Could imagine if Jamar chase sticks? We have Toney , Pitts and chase for Kyle Trask to throw to.

Butterhumper lied about death threats.

I feel we will be better this season. Really hoping for 7 wins.

We'll have a pretty good indication of how the season will progress after the Utah game.

He has the top academic roster in the SEC and has a top 5 recruiting class ... I don't think the record this year is all that important.

Regardless ... if he beats the buttsniffers he gets a pass from me. He's going to do it too. (and he has to finish with at least a top 3-4 sec class)
The frustration of last year was winning against Utah, then losing to Ky, almost losing to USF, battling along as expected and catching some momentum at A&M, destroying SC then collapsing with losses to Vandy and f$u. I won’t bother with the depleted bowl game squad.

Win or playing well in a loss vs. Utah, I’d like to see consistency and resilience, evidence the culture is different and that the roster is better in talent and effort. I think/hope things are different. Let’s see it manifested on the field.
