UNL? Who the hell is UNL? What's with some people on here using abbreviations for school that have never been used....ever? I've seen UAL for BAMA and LU for Louisville and a couple more I can't remember.

You realize I did that on purpose to "acknowledge" posters that use such acronyms?

Watching the highlights of the UCF / Austin Peay game and UCF defense looks bad. Really Bad. Zookish bad.

Their offense looks similar to ours, only it works. Again, they are playing against a 1AA team.

45-26 at half

I'm rethinking this Scott Frost thing.

Give him the money to hire a top notch D-coordinator. If we can score 40-45 points a game, we won't need a top 5 defense.

Chip Kelly is looking at an important factor in determining where he lands next.

As reported by The Read Optional’s Oliver Connolly and Trey Wallace, the former Oregon and NFL coach would look closely at recruiting and the staff he could assemble in that effort. The report also states that Kelly “is looking at fits rather than the biggest payday.”

Here’s more from the report:

Sources tell The Read Optional that Kelly has yet to hear from either Florida or Tennessee about their potential openings. Kelly’s choice will come down to recruiting: The staff he can assemble, and the investment from the school into analysts and the overall recruiting budget. Kelly has no holdups about media obligations, as has been suggested by some.

It will be fascinating to see what happens with Kelly and the situations at Florida and Tennessee. It would be wise for the Gators and Volunteers at least to ask Kelly and see if he would be interested.

UNL is the common abbreviation used for Nebraska among people who live out there. University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

In all my years at UFG and since I've never once heard anyone, even friends from Nebraska, refer to Nebraska as UNL.

Too many rumors going around. Can't believe nothing has been announced. With each passing day, another top target is crossed off our list. This is not going good so far guys...

I don't know what James Franklin is being paid or what his buyout is, but I imagine he would be intrigued by the UF job just because of the recruiting advantages compared to Penn St. He'd be more expensive than Frost, but he also has a stronger resume.

I like him too, but we missed our chance the day we let him leave town after he kicked our ass with FREAKING VANDY!

Going to throw this out. I'm not a fan of the idea but what about Gus Malzahn? Innovative offense and Auburn is getting tired of him. Pretty good recruiter. Who knows.

I think he's a decent coach, but after that first year at Auburn, where he got every break imaginable to go to the national championship and CHOKE to FSU, he's been about an 8 win coach. If he don't have the perfect QB for his offense, then his teams aren't as scary.

Mac has barely been fired 24 hours. It takes time. Especially if we hire a current college coach.

So, if we are into using obtuse abbreviations we should at least be accurate. Alabama should really be UAT to maintain parallelism with UAB. Nebraska should be UNL to differentiate it from UNOmaha. When I was stationed in Ft. Worth, the TAMU crowd started referring to Texas as UT Austin after the state system started rationalizing the name to UTSA, UT Arilington, etc. That's why Florida should always maintain directional names. There is only the University of Florida residing in Gainesville. UWF, UCF, USF, UNF, FIU, FAU are OK by me.
