I knew that would be the only response. You are correct but he’s working on it. Would you care to address the actual issue I noted?

We have multiple 4 stars and a 5 star. I think development is a massive issue. What say you?

Tell me about developing Hayes, Allen, Hudson, Gak, Stone, etc. How many beautiful Nembhard feeds go to waste with these guys? Those guys don’t belong on the floor.

Hayes, sure. The others are talented players that haven’t been developed at all. Allen’s gotten worse under White as have the others.

Either he isn’t recruiting the right guys or he isn’t developing them. Unless we want to go the Mac route and strictly blame the players for lack of execution.

Gak has never and will never contribute. Hayes, Allen and Stone are limited offensively to three pointers. Once opposing teams adjusted to not allowing uncontested three point shots from these guys, their game is over. We got no inside threat that teams need to worry about so they can guard the perimeter. How we got here? Bad recruiting. How do we get better? Good recruiting. White is recruiting better so I’m waiting and watching. I just have a longer term outlook. I didn’t lose sleep over last nights loss. You are ready to fire him. I doubt we will ever agree.

Hayes, Stone and Allen were Billy’s recruits initially. White saved the class when Billy moved on.

Hayes does some things well and has a great attitude and motor. Unfortunately he can’t shoot, has bad hands and is a less than stellar rebounder. Should be a role player where he could contribute.

Stone is inconsistent and too often hesitates a count before pulling an open shot. He is heavy-legged and does not have a particularly good motor.

Allen has been mostly one dimensional since arriving. His game depends heavily on the 3 ball and he is also inconsistent.

All three could be contributing role players on a good team. They are best friends and have great attitudes although Stone and Allen tend to get down on themselves too frequently.

They are given roles on our team that exceeds their abilities. Great Gators but shouldn’t be starting imo.

I see the pumps have resorted to dumping on the players to defend the coaches. Tell me, who's more of a gator, a hired gun who is here to get paid or the players who come here to wear the orange and blue?

White is the same now as he has been since the start. The team is barely watchable and like multiple posters have said, the talent we bring in usually peaks their first year. That is a serious indictment on the staff. Honestly glad I can't watch this season. It would just piss me off. I can always count on pumps to defend the coaches and blame the players tho, that never changes. Until the coaches get fired and it's immediately evident they were the problem all along, of course.

I’m just ready to watch a functional offense, and one with an identity that doesn’t consistently go on extended scoring droughts. There’s only one person to blame.

I’ll admit I was heated after last night’s inexcusable loss and may have over reacted. Obviously he gets the rest of this year, but seat should be getting warm and if he doesn’t make the tourney it should be scorching hot. I just don’t see it working out long term.

This is not a good season and White leaves a lot to be desired with how he's handled things. Many of our players--but especially our upperclassmen--are not playing well either. White ultimately bears responsibility for that, of course, but it's no real secret that our seniors especially aren't playing to their experience level or their talent.

He has a few really good classes coming in, so let's hope this season is a blip on the radar. Even Donovan had a few in his time here.

Here you go again. Nobody is defending White. I don’t know if he is elite or not. I just can’t tell with the players he’s got so far. I know he made the Elite Eight, which was great. I know he is getting some elite players committed. I just have a longer term outlook than a few of you dudes. Not sure why that is such a big deal.

Hey, I agree, though we are not making the tourney this year and Strickland and Fuchs aren’t getting rid of him anytime soon. I’ll therefore enjoy the wins when we get them for the time being.

Rich statement coming from you. The last few pages you've been dogging half the roster to defend the coach, as per usual. Dollars to donuts a great coach would have this exact squad playing very well. People with your position were the same ones telling us to give Mac time and he's got nobody that can play. Well turns out that was total BS and this season proved we did have players capable. People like me knew he was a disaster before the end of the first season and said so loudly.

Hes got talent, he's had good classes. It's the coach. I couldn't care less about your outlook. He's not a good coach. Whether or not he grows into one in 3 to 5 years shouldn't be our concern. This ain't an OJT position. You can watch him grow into something good while pacing around someone else's court. The rest of us want and expect to compete now, and there's no reason we shouldn't be. None.

BBall analysts expected White to form these Gator players into one of the top teams in the SEC? Ten other SEC coaches have put together top teams in the nation. Compare that.

Players play in games the ways they practice. For every team, practices are where coaching corrects poor play -- not getting open, shooting off-balance, standing around dumbfounded, delivering passes too slowly, not positioning for rebounds, shooting without a teammate in rebound position, no mind towards a collective penetration plays, etc. etc. Again, a team's players perform the way they are taught, the way they're directed in practice.

Highly paid coaches study players and apply "trial-changes", rehearsing for improvements. I know that these suggestions are generalities but watched from overhead this team is generally failing at worthwhile basketball.

Playing time distribution = Hudson gets 17 minutes to contribute a harmful 2-8 FG, while Ballard gets 12 minutes contributing 3-3 FG. Could a coach develop something more reliable there? seize a betterment, grind in an advantage? Hudson's 8 shots taken by any other 1, 2, or 3 Gators would have given us the win. For the season Hudson is a 31% FG shooter. Allen hit 66% FG and he took only 6 shots 4-6, 2-2 in 3s. Could a coach effect this flaw, right there from the sidecourt? Could a coach drill some team template into this randomness? Etc.,etc.

You keep assigning positions to me that simply aren’t accurate. I never defended Butters or Chimp. It was apparent early on they sucked and I was in favor of firing them. I don’t pretend to have any sway with UAA and UF Admin as some of you gents think they do. I am not at that point with White. Let me repeat, I am not defending White and I don’t know if he is an elite coach or not. Why is that such a trigger for you?

BTW, UF B-Ball is not a blue blood program. We don’t snap our fingers and get elite coaches and recruits nearly as easily as the big boys.

I never said you stated that about Mac, I said your position on this is the same position the Mac defenders took. Need more time, better players, lack of facilities, more UA buy in, etc etc etc. Everything one could come up with besides what it really is. A poor job coaching. I'm just curious when you're going to go out of your way to defend a player... Ya know, the ones that are actually Gators?

I know, I know... Too much to ask.

Again, I did not believe in Butters for long. So I’m not sure why you are building that straw man. I also didn’t need to repeat it numerous times daily on a message board.

Regarding strengths of players, another straw man you are building. I mentioned Nembard’s gifted passing ability. Unfortunately, he might be a one and done.

You got any other positives about this team I’m missing? Cause I don’t see much else.

List of players who have gotten better under Mike White's coaching; Chris Chiozza. List of players who have regressed under White's coaching; Allen, Hudson, Hayes, Stone and counting.

That tells you all you need to know. He's one helluva stand-up guy and a pretty good recruiter, but he has an inexplicable almost unfathomable inability to develop players.

I have the utmost respect for him as a man but no confidence in his ability to run the program Billy built.

One can say that UF isn't a lustrous basketball school. But is Alabama, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Auburn? All these teams are excelling this season. How about FSU's coach?-- does UF deserve a basketball coach as effective as FSU's coach. Is anyone saying that those schools are more attractive to basketball players than UF? Even if this flopped season is one time and White is a good coach, does UF deserve a better coach?

Billy was 16-17 his last year before heading to OKC. Does that play any role here?
