Wait till Tennessee gets finished with us.Not surprised. Classic Gator BB.
I gave up on the FB team after the Missouri game as did many, and we all saw what happened down the the stretch. Can’t give up on the BB team just yet. But Coach White and the team had better get it together soon as it’s only going to get tougher.
They are just not a good team overall, defense is usually very solid but they will be lucky to finish the season 500, no leadership, they make bonehead plays always at the worse time, and the most inconsistent offense of all times. I hope CMW learned a valuable lesson that he should have known from UK Duke years ago, if you give the inbounds passer a clear passing lane the Hail Mary is way easier, i Bet Christian Laettner laughs when he sees that highlight.
I also agree with the comment about South Carolina fouls so much they don't call them, its like the old UK days with pitino, if the game is on tv they can't call every foul as the game will take to long.
I see both sides of this discussion and in all honesty when I coached or was an assistant, I never put a defender on the ball in a full court situation with few seconds remaining, simply b/c I would rather defend 4 guys with 5 defenders. also in a long pass situation, the inbounds passer, after a made shot, can run the baseline, thus helping his vision. Plus when you throw anything of that length, you are just throwing it to a spot, so a defender is not that big a deal IMO. However, it is how you play the pass that was laughable. You know Silva is that kind of guy so you attach (physically) 2 guys to him, one in front, one behind (which we did not do). Also you must push (not physically). the other guys towards the ball and away from the basket. Lastly, I always had a rule: No pass greater than 25 feet goes untouched. Defensively in a dead ball situation. a pass greater than 25 feet should never not be touched by at least one defender.
I can see that, you front and back the guy most likely to make the catch and shoot, and push every one else back towards the ball, that would have been a sound way to play that also. If you a call time out in that situation can they still run the baseline for the inbounds?
The Head Coach matters.....see Dan Mullen.
Time for McElwhite to go....

The lack of player development is the most amazing thing to me. Allen was great his freshman year and has devolved. Hudson was NBA-quality and can't even get on the floor now. Stone has a lot of ability, but is not showing improvement. Hayes has been Hayes since his freshman year. It's one thing to recruit players - it's another to get them better and get them gelling as a team. White's recruiting classes for this year and next will buy him some time, but if we aren't competing for an SEC title within 2 years the time to look for a better coach will have arrived.
I’m just not seeing much God-given talent on this team. Outside of the Freshmen, what players would any top 25 team want off of our roster? We got some gawky big men inside and some smurf forwards. Not exactly something Roy Williams could work with. One needs athletic length to go inside. We got nobody with both.
So White failed in recruiting too?
