This idea that ESPN hates Florida is so sensitive by so many tough guys in here.

It’s Jachai Polite at the combine syndrome. Here’s what I mean, anyone takes any shot at you or your team (even if it is the same observation you might make) and “they hate us” opposed to giving an honest take. This is the same ESPN that owns the SEC Network, of which we are one of the most valuable assets (if not the most valuable). It’s the same ESPN that put us in a showcase game as the only game on at the time to celebrate 150 years of college football. It’s not their fault we crapped the bed. If we dominate, they tell that story.

Similarly Danielson, who people complain about, was our biggest advocate for the 2006 national title game spot. Yet I read here by many that he also hates us.

As to Herbstreit, yes his crazy 2006 stance of “vote for who you think is the second best team . . . If it’s Florida vote Florida” is incited vitriol toward the Gators because he thought it was Michigan (who he may actually hate as a buckeye). We are a sensitive lot. As to Franks, herbstreit said nearly the same things as Cover2, who must clearly be another Gator hater who just gives us his game analysis to torture us.

Here is the basis for “Herbstreit hates the Gators” (warning it may be too much for some to handle):

Herbstreit also said in 2006 regarding Ohio State - Michigan game:

"Not only did I play in it, but I have been a fan of the rivalry my entire life, since I was breathing," Herbstreit said on a conference call this week. "It sounds sick, but all I've lived for my entire life is watching that game."

He's an Ohio State guy, a Big 10 fan, and preferred to see this game. He also came on-air in a different segment that week and literally begged the voters not to discount Michigan due to a rematch. Its fine, doesn't mean he hates Florida, he just likes his guys more. Just this morning I had to listen to Kanell make so many excuses for Slick Willie even he said it does sound like he's making an excuse. He likes FSU, and by default he won't care for us much. Some of these guys get to the booth and they cannot leave their allegiances behind. Ask Lamar Thomas.

“All I know” is Miami had owned us for the prior 10 games, which is why many on here didn’t even have a “favorite UF/UM moment”. It’s just like they kept talking about us owning UK for 31 years. Just like they talk about us owning UT. Just like talking about our Heisman qb’s and Tebow’s greatness nearly every game on TV. Just like they note Franks’ antics are tone deaf to his otherwise being on the hook for the loss if not for our defense (and UM’s crappy line and missed kick).

“All I know” is they keep saying these things they observe. Its almost like that is their job and Florida isn’t the only team they cover. Oh the humanity. Why do they hate us so much?

He also came out after the National Title game that year, and admitted he was wrong, and that was in part because of the ESPN/Big 10 contract he had watched 100 times more film and had done more work for the Big 10, because that is whom they were told to sell. Strange how that selling changed when the SEC made a contract with ESPN.

I'm not a Herbstreit fan, but context is important. A number of other ESPN commentators said similar things coming out of that National Title game. They hadn't truly seen the speed of the SEC and importantly the SEC Defensive Lines.

That all sounds like Kanell and his excuses today, its all the same. He was openly pulling for Michigan, and his apology, which we all saw, was an admission of that. I don't agree he was not aware of the caliber of play in the SEC - watching college football is all he does. If he feels he had to lobby for Michigan because ESPN made him, that's fine, but its silly to expect Gator fans to not see him as partisan to the Big 10. And while other pundits may have felt Michigan deserved another shot, Herby begged the voters to consider Michigan - like I said, Lamar Thomas style.

So ok, mugging for the camera is not my thing, but Franks' hot-dogging is just who he is. Tim and Danny reacted in their own way after a scoring drive, on the sidelines, etc. That behavior reflected more in how they are wired rather than how they played. Results speak for themselves. Step back and celebrate the good things and don't get carried away when our qb mugs for the camera.

The Colorado blog I follow is convinced espn hates them. I honestly doubt espn much cares but fans dwell on those negative comments.

Franks is too concerned with sticking it to the haters but its not a good look to be doing it imo shortly after you tried to give the game away with your play. That is the time to just give teammates credit for bailing you out on your huge mistake.

oh good freaking lord. everyone taking one side or the other on this issue is being dumb, and that includes you 14.

"espn" doesnt hate anybody. espn commentators and analysts have preferences and biases just like anyone else. espn is nothing more than a bunch of ppl with differing positions, likes, and dislikes. some of those ppl do, in fact, dislike florida, while others like florida. same for every other team in the country. the folks who run around all day saying espn (as if it was some singular entity) hates us are idiots, just as big of idiots as the ones saying the same singular entity doesnt hate us. both are stupid. there are employees that do and ones that dont.

if you want to know the truth just watch the media coverage when we are good vs when we suck balls. Once we had established ourselves under meyer it was mostly rainbows and unicorns about the mighty gators, but once we started sucking balls it was negativity. go figure.

the only real trend thats noticeable is if a team sucks balls but still gets a lot of notoriety b/c of previous history, negativity grows, and rightfully so. nobody wants to watch a bunch of felatio performed on a team that sucks balls simply b/c they used to be good.

you want espn to start hyping us? start winning championships.

This is incorrect. I have it on good authority that "espn" does actually hate you. Just passing on what I have been told, so don't shoot the messenger.
