It's time for Trask to play an entire game without getting yanked

He gets blown back three feet after every snap, yes.

I have no clue what they see in Buchanan. He has always been dogshyt.

Well that reminds me of Jalepeno chasing the guys into the backfield that he whiffed on play after play. so the other nite I turn on an NFL game and who is a starting O_lineman? jalepeno!. Buchannon is on the right track.

Halapio was at least decent as a run blocker but we've sucked for so long at this position group it almost defies odds at this point.....

And why is it that Bammer has routinely started at least one Freshmen on the Oline for the last 10 years...Clemson has also had some success with younger players.....it's just not normal to be less than average for so long.

I don't want to see Emory Jones on the field for a single play next week, even if we're up 80 in the fourth quarter. Let Trask play an entire game without yanking him out. Had we done this last night, we're all in a much different mood this morning.

Trask is good enough that I would actually be excited about him coming back next year, ASSUMING that Mullen would actually let him play QB and not insist on the option. I'm not holding my breath.

YOU might feel better, but if we came up short because the D couldn't stop sht and Kyle still threw the INT...we're spending Sunday wondering why EJ wasn't put in and what he could have done. I'd love for Trask to come back next year, but it's up to him. I see the need for EJ to have snaps in games and NOT play Trask the entire game because you never know when an injury puts EJ in the spotlight. He has to be ready.

I'll agree, however, that Mullen's play calling leaves a lot to be desired - especially for the longevity of a QB.

What year is Kyle? A redshirt junior?

Reshirt Junior according to FloridaGators.com

Trask looking great in our vertical offense. 310 yards passing vs LSU, a top 5 team. Not bad for a supposed 2*QB.

Houston Baptist is besides itself in that it could have won the the Southland, maybe even been a contender in FCS, and certainly shouldn't have gotten waxed 45-20 at Abilene Christian this weekend.

Itraz made a great point that our elite group of WR's will be gone soon and aren't being replaced. This is the one year that you go all out and use them. Instead, they are wasted.

Mullen needs to throw the old playbook out the window and go for broke this season. Throw 60 times a game if necessary. However, there is a better chance of me waking up tomorrow and having 3 johnsons.

Mullen, like most coaches, is incapable of losing his identity. He will always be a run first, even in a special year like this with elite WR and an accurate passing QB.

Who you go to bed with, and wake up in the morning with, is your business. No need to share.

I've got no problem putting EJ in for a series or three here and there. It does help with our mostly nonexistent running game. But keep him in and don't put Trask in on third down when everyone knows he's going to pass. Bad things happen.

This thread is pure insanity. Where’s the fire Grantham thread? If we’re overreacting, at least point your pitchforks at the culprit for the loss.

EJ did some really good things yesterday, including picking up crucial first downs. His throw to Pitts was a dime, Pitts just got popped and lost the ball. LSU did a nice job stopping him in the third but the drive before Trask went 3 and out after that holding penalty on 1st down. Not claiming that Mullen was perfect or I wasn’t frustrated with some of the play calls but this place has gone insane - our defense gave up 10+ yards/play, 500+ yards, and 42 points with no sacks or TOs. It was as pathetic of a performance as I’ve ever seen. I think Mullen, after watching his presser, is danger close to major defensive changes this offseason, thankfully.

Fire grantham. You God-Damned right.

I said it in the Takes, but will say it again here. I don't want to see EJ again unless its garbage time or he is the starter. Mullen has shown that as a "change up" he doesn't put EJ in at the right moments and is very predictable in that it's run run and pass if its an obvious passing down. All I've seen in the "change up" role so far is stalled drives, maybe just slowed down drives if we're lucky.

The myth that we almost won this game, and especially the idea that the reason we didn't win is because EJ played a handful of snaps is completely backwards. Check out the win probability curve. Notice the area between the probability curve and the 50/50 line and how it spent nearly the entire game far below the line and all of 5 minutes slightly above the line. We were supposed to lose, nearly the entire game it was probable that we were going to lose, then we lost.

Luckily losing didn't do anything other than burn our safety margin, and thanks to Kirby it didn't even really do that since technically we can lose to either USC or Mizzou, and still get to the SECCG as long as we beat the Dwags and Vandy, and at least one of Mizzou and USC, although it would get complicated if Mizzou or USC also ended with 2 conference loses. Yeah, 2 loses almost certainly would take us out of the playoff picture, but we aren't really even close to NC material. Getting to the SECCG is the only realistic goal. It would give us an extra game and meaningful practices, and possibly a shot at a rematch against LSU, but more likely a beatdown at the hands of Saban and Co.

I'm in the opinion EJ has to play or we can't run the ball. If Trask is gonna take the whole game then let's just abandon the run completely. Its a wasted play when trask is in the game. Mullen can pop in some Washington state videos and just say "**** it, we're throwing 50 times a game."

^ this....

EJ in is our only threat to run. In fact, I prefer to see EJ more due to the fact that if we're going to try and run, we need him in. Now if we abandon the run, then im fine with Trask the rest of the time

We didn't try sweeps to the outside or receiver screens. We continued to try and run right up the middle over and over with very few innovative play calls.

Somebody help a fellow Gator out here! Have they outlawed running backs, fullbacks, 2-back sets, end arounds, etc.?

It appears to the playcaller/head coach who took care of outlawing those things. It is one of the bigget issue I have with Mullen as a playcaller, in 2005-06 it took a season and a half to realize we were a better offense with a fullback behind Leak. I'm wonder how long it is going to take this time.

Not amusing at all. The kids a solid Gator and deserves better. If there was ever a banable offense, repeatedly calling him trash would be it. Part of the reason I have him on ignore.

So in the beginning when the "Trash" name first started, does the probability exist that Kyle Trask all along was a worthy backup and a person of fine qualities? Some us at GC kept him categorized as a "bum" for the first 3 years of his college life? That right there is a "process" used against FF most of his college life. That ridicule process is portable to our other players, even those in the future. It's okay because being a fan of these 'fanantics" is humorous - suppose to be fun. Just always keep that humor aspect in mind.

Uh bud do we have a FB on this roster at all? We don't even have any TE's with enough size to line up and play that position.
