We are 22-9 vs UGA since 1990. How is it we ONLY EVER win maybe one out of five and its ALWAYS been that way? We have closed the gap CONSIDERABLY since SOS came back in 1990.

Yeah all of that seems debatable. More like talking points, really. I’m going with Threat’s version. It’s 20%, at best. An occasional long shot, nothing more.

I posted this on August 8, 2019 and I think a great deal still applies (updated in orange as necessary, helpful or amusing to me):

- I will become far more of a pumper by August 21 [September 3], at which point the rational side of me will have lost the battle to the fanatic that is convinced we are going 12-0 until the SEC Championship game because I bought a new shirt with zero loses in it.
- Our line will be fine, until a couple times when it's not and I will join 80,000 others in sighing and cursing (not booing) [I'm less confident in this one]
- My bourbon, beer and rum consumption will all increase from August 24-January 13, 2020 [Far more confident in this one]

- Pierce will break out with at least 700 yards as a backup [eh, starter and 2019 was only 305 yds].
- Burney will be a massive improvement and, barring injury, a star on defense, second in tackles and leading the team in interceptions [I swear, it's happening this year!]
- Wells will not do sh!t [Nailed it!]
- We will all scream to get the ball to Toney[Bowman] more, Copeland [Lingard] will play the late season 2008 role of Rainey/Demps to Harvin, meaning he will get his 3-5 touches a game, 1 of which every second game he will turn into big plays leading to more complaining about Copeland[Lingard] not getting the ball enough.
- LawDonk will bytch. A LOT. But, not as much as those bytching about his bytching [Easiest prediction and deserves no credit]
- I will like more @ltraz posts than many on here after a win, when he points out that there were some lapses we should shore up. Others will believe Mullen kicked his dog and Traz hasn't gotten over it, thus the nerve of him to criticize deficiencies. [stands this season too]
- Ox will not get laid on October 5th [Ox is thanking God that Auburn is off the schedule]
- Third and Grantham will be better, but very much still a thing this year.
- Insti [apparently Mr. Two Bits is vying for this absurdity] will invent a new statistical analysis for whether our defense is performing moderately above just below almost elite. The math will be simple, yet make no f'ing sense at all.
- @soflagator SoFla will remain our most consistently entertaining poster, @cover2 C2 our best storyteller who feeds knowledge as well, and @Bait'n Gator BaitnGator most likely to make me laugh about something I feel too guilty to like [nailed it, but also too easy of a prediction]
- C2 will get away with criticism of the Gators deficiencies. As noted above, @ltraz will not
- Foley will still be hampering our program for years, and Strickland will not be fixing it.
- I will selectively pick any of these prediction that prove correct and ignore the others as though they never happened
- We will have 2 more people join the super important, extra special, featured game breakdowns [Truth bullied out Sas, causing crazy Sas reactions and crazier google searches in the Sas household]. Navet will be missed for not merging everyone's game breakdown's into C2's thread. Sas and Truth provide good breakdowns, but they could all be in the same thread.
- Sas and Boss will lead the board in bannings from a board that differentiates itself by not banning anyone.
- the Gators will lead the SEC, and be top 10 in the country, in penalties. Posters here will claim it's evidence that everyone hates us. [Perhaps this is the biggest surprise of the Mullen era, that we have improved on penalties. Apparently we are too apathetic to even commit penalties at ordinary Gator rates. I thought that leading the league in penalties was the Gator Standard]
- I will lose my voice at least 8 times this fall.
- I will spend too much time on Gatorchatter and still wish there was more here to read.
- I will post after a game while drunk, see it the next day and laugh at myself.
- Gators roll in Tallahassee [I embarassing had this wrong then, while typing a couple (or more) drinks in, but hope it is right this year in Gainesville, though I feel less hopeful than in 2019 - and that just sucks], which, no matter how bad they are will always feel great to a Spurrier-raised Gator that may never see enough of those beat downs of the fighting Willie's[cornrows] to make up for SOS's Tally record in my lifetime.
- there will be at least 10 new board members who make me laugh out loud or learn something new.
- I will sweat my a$$ off pre-game and through the third quarter and will love every minute of being around and in the Swamp. By the fourth quarter, it will be bearable. [So, this is not happening at all, as I will miss nearly every game this season due to my kids beginning youth tackle football after years of only flag. Their first ever tackle game was a huge success. My younger son (defensive tackle) had a much better game than how practices have gone, blew up about 6+ plays in the backfield including a QB hit and hurry. My older son, started at QB (for coaches that don't know us or his friends, so definitely earned). First run was a 27 yard TD, first pass (swing pass though) was a TD, and played well the rest of the game too. I honestly can't say I'm too sad about this change of my Saturday schedule if they continue to compete this hard - results will come if they battle. As a father, I just want to see them give their all, not quit, and battle more if it is difficult regardless of the game outcome for them - wins are better but them learning to fight for themselves and teammates is paramount.]
- I'll just barely hold off tearing up for "Heeeere come the Gators" and I won't be able to hold off if it follows a flyover [See above. I will likely not be there or this would be the second easiest prediction on this list.]
- I'll enjoy the smell of the Swamp and the hatred for Tennessee even if we have beaten them 13 of the last 14 [Damn, I'm starting to fell the regret as I re-read my own post. Maybe I'll try to get to more games than I anticipate - until I realize the Swamp will be there next year, but my kids won't be 12 and 11 again].
- Florida rolls against Miami [USF, I guess] due to the pressure we put on whoever is the QB.
-
- I will spend hours watching my kids play sports while a Gator game is on, taping it and trying to hide from the results, then watching the entire game with my boys and die-hard Gator wife afterwards and thinking that life is pretty damn good. [This part still applies, still makes me smile very honestly and deeply. I wish all my fellow Gators equal joy, whether over family or anything else you find meaningful in your lives (unless the majority of your posts are in the political forum - Deet excluded - in which case, find something else meaningful in your lives.]

- Thanksgiving will roll around and I'll again be thankful Ox gave us all this outlet. [Again Ox, much appreciate for you bringing this community together where we can have honest Gator discussion even if that is not positive at all times.]

Additions:

- Our passion for the Gators will not be matched by our admin or coaches.
- I know, even if we don't see the results on the field, will be matched by the players who will put in countless hours to get better.
- The players putting in that effort will be starting from behind - talent wise and from an admin support perspective.
- Too many on this board will believe that the results on the field are due to political beliefs of our players.
- NIL will largely be a nothing item this year, yet an enormous influence in team building/recruiting in 3 years and moving forward.
- Things none of us saw coming, will happen, good and bad, and that is why we love sports, love the Gators, and will come back next year even though none of us honestly expect a championship this year. Maybe Boss, but let's not pick on those less fortunate.
- Perhaps a preference only this year, please kick off after 4;30 most games this year so I can see a few more game without recording in a newly renovated back yard with a kegorator, dual gas/charcoal grill, fireplace, and multiple TVs (including one that extends far enough to be nearly hanging over the pool).

Go Gators!

Regardless of expectations, I hope each of you find something to enjoy this season.

Dan Mullen's a gator? Todd Granthem's a gator?

Pretty sure mullen is a hired gun in desperate need of trade in for a new model, and granthem is just a fat dwag in drag.

You do you though big haus.

See I understand not liking a coach, but I just don't understand hoping and wishing they fail just so you can prove a point of how you were right on a message board. I'll admit the defense was horrid last season and Grantham deserved to be fired, but he wasn't and I hope he proves everyone wrong and the defense is a strength. So I'll continue to have my optimism.

That's fine. You're free to hope for whatever you like. Some dont do hope. They live in realville where past performance is a likely indicator of future results.

I dont know anyone hoping granthem fails. I havent seen a single post saying I hope dan mullen loses 4 games and finishes recruiting season like a wet fart. What I do see is alot of posters expecting it because its what he does consistently. And they want him gone because of that. Like I said though, you hang in there, body of work be damned.

I can see 12-0 down to 9-3.

Bama, UGA, and LSU are breaking in new QBs as well. They could be studs or duds, don't know yet.

I don't see anyone else who should be able to play with us. UK is going to be good up front, but are they good everywhere.

I voted 10-2 because it is a tough schedule and we have Grantham who will undoubtedly screw up a game or two.

LSU's quarterback is the same one who beat us at home last year, so not breaking in someone new. UGA's quarterback finished last season as the starter and played well.

So past results indicate future results let's see since Mullen has taken over he's taken our offense from 107 and 109th in the nation to 22nd in 2018 29th in 2017 and 13th in 2020. Averaging 35.9 points a game for his 3 seasons and the defense was ranked 20th 7th and 74th so one bad year but returned almost the whole roster from a group that was ranked 7th the previous year so that is just mind blowing how the same defensive scheme can have that much of a drop off. So I'll give the benefit that it was personnel issues. The defense has allowed 22.1 points per game over 3 years. So based off these past performances I'd say we have a good chance of having continued success.

A couple of starts doesn't negate my comment. Both uga an lsu qbs last year were backups.

What you have to understand, 81, is this is genius central. If you have any optimism or demonstrate any :pumper:tendancies you are embracing mediocrity and are happy with moral victories. This is the 21st century where songs about We Are The Boys and Mr 2bits doing his thing is just bllshhtt and not signing 5*s like bama and UGA is cause for embarrassment and even worse. Mullen is just maclstain 2.0 and like Trask will never be worth a ****..............;)
