Diverticulitis got to a really bad point that it required major surgery. At the moment I have a colostomy bag. The hope is I only have it for 3 months then can be put back together. Also will not be posting pictures of my wife either not sure she'd like it.
Hang in there my man. I had a similar experience a few year’s back. Was in a wreck and the seatbelt hookup ruptured my colon and I had three bouts of diverticulitis about 6 months apart. Medicine didn’t ease the last bout and I got to the emergency room in time to be checked and rushed into surgery and removed a foot and a half of my colon. Also lost my spleen. Diverticulum had perforated. Pain was pretty intense. Toughing it out like to have got me. I had a bag for about 6 months. It was weird at first, but I got used to it. My work buddies used to ask me about the bag. The joke was that “there wasn’t shti to it!” They got me reconnected and I haven’t had much trouble. Can’t eat as much as I once did. Praying you get back to normal with no surprises. My wife was the best nurse I could ask for. Sounds like you’ve got a similar set up. Rest and heal up!

How do those bags work? Does semen start floating around in it when you see a super hot chick?
T, your humorous stab is appreciated. However, to my knowledge, the upper end of the colon where separated is not connected to any of the male reproductive organs, so none of the floaters you mention. The upper end of the colon is the part actually attached to a surgical stoma on the side of the belly for the waste matter to collect in the bag that is sealed with a flange of sorts (note - empty the bag frequently to avoid a catastrophe! ). From a strictly medical standpoint, I’m not sure the fantasy…er, query mentioned is possible.

:)

About 6 months ago, my best friend's mom had a similar procedure. She died 3 days after the surgery because something leaked and caused sepsis.

Is Kev still with us?

Hey KEV!! You out there??? Give us an update bro!

@cover2 - ooooof! (on your post/story). When I was on the Jax fire department I went to a few nasty car accidents where the seat belt sliced open the abdomen, some of the worst patients to treat as a paramedic.

I'm terrified of this happening. This morning I had a leak and it took them about 10 minutes to come in my room to help. I was sleeping and I felt it start leaking.

Part of my sister in law's procedure for recovery was removal of part of the colon. She's just fine now and does everything she did before the ailment and more!

Similar thing happened to my sister with a low speed, side impact on Ft. Drum. Lap belt broke her pelvis, ruptured her bladder, and tore an ovary in half.

We're still thinking about you Kev. Keep up the positivity and you'll be just fine.

Btw, no one here disliked you. We are a family, and no one gives people schit more than family
