Correct me if I'm wrong, but Billy took over two seasons after a Final 4 run, right?
I'm not saying White is anywhere near Billy's level right now, but there's no need to throw him under the bus yet.

Billy and White were hired at two completely different eras in Gator basketball. White seems like a ****ty recruiter as of right now. He is the KING of the NIT and it continues here at UF. Comparing the two is a joke. White's teams at La Tech choked at the end of the season. Guess what? Same story here. I wasn't impressed by his coaching either. Maybe you see something besides "give him time". He's not a rookie coach. Looks like a bad hire to me.
I'm not saying to throw him under the bus. He just isn't as good as "advertised" . He has this offseason to make the team better his way, so we will see how the team turns out next season.

What was advertised? A bunch of NIT bids? A superior pedigree? An "uptempo" coaching style?
Or Foley trying to be the smartest man in the room?
Looks like he's neither so far. And can we stop hoping or comparing him to a young Billy. Best we can hope for from White is he's passable to at least keep us moderately competitive. I'll be very surprised if he survives past year 3. And as others have pointed out, if he fails (which seems very likely) we will have officially wiped out every bit of prestige and momentum Billy built.
That's why this hire was so critical. We were officially a BB power but it was extremely fragile. I'm effing pissed.
I guess it's time to turn our focus back to "Other UF Sports"
If you're that pissed over collegiate basketball at a football school, maybe you should get a prescription for Xanax. Or more cowbell.
I remember you having this same tone in the early years of Muschump. We aren't, or at least weren't, just a football school.
The point remains. Getting that pissed off over college kids playing sports? I'm as passionate as anyone when it comes to Gator athletics, but it's not the end of the world if we don't do well. Life goes on, believe it or not.
Cuse getting in is a joke. Tulsa getting in is a joke. Both with coaches who just flipped the bird at the NCAA.

So, yeah, I'm pissed Foley went cheap trying to outsmart everyone. In my opinion White didn't seem to be qualified when he was hired, and sure enough, underachieved and got out-coached regularly. So there's a chance he could turn out to be a good coach, but based on what we've seen so far, it looks more likely that Foley screwed the pooch (again).
For me it was always a Football and basketball school. Had student tickets and went to every game I could as undergraduate watching so many Gator Greats starting with the M&M boys. And also stood almost courtside seeing opponent greats as well (including Shaq/Roberts twin towers and watching live and close, Chris Jackson having the best single game performance I've ever seen, college or pro). That made me a huge Gator BB fan for decades now.

No, you have to be the most patient in the entire world of any fan I've known. The man could bang SQ and you'd still give him another shot.
