3 weeks ago went thru Emanuel County and stopped at the Kwik Stop in Kite and picked up a couple bottles of cane. I bought this guy's syrup before and was really good. Didn't look close til I got home and see that he now adds a small amount of corn syrup to his so now Imma look for a new source. I think I found one in Metter at Grady's Truck Stop.
Still pretty good but you can taste the difference, thinner taste and slicker than straight cane. It takes 10 gallons of cane juice squeezings to make one gallon of syrup.

I used to drive regularly for work down I-16 to Savannah and have stopped in Metter many times as there aren’t many places between Macon and Savannah. I will soon be doing it again two to three times a year and am not looking forward to it.

True dat. If you can wait a few minutes, the new Pooler exit is pretty nice, easy to get off and back on 16 again, to the west is a new strip mall with a Kroger and both east and west have 2 almost grocery-like convenience stores with fast foods and really clean bathroom facilities. I would rather piss on the side of the road than use the bathroom at Grady's Truck Stop.

Turkey burger, Caesar salad, corn coblets followed up with wife’s family recipe nanner puddin. Special bonus: bats finally came out of their caves tonight and we got an awesome show around the back porch.

Mrs G put together some pork tenderloins with an awesome rub. Despite being Father’s Day I was detailed with grilling them. Here’s how they looked on the egg. upload_2020-6-21_19-57-12.jpeg
Final product with sauce, corn on the Cobb and home made slaw. upload_2020-6-21_19-58-25.jpeg

Mom was in town, so the wife and I got the night off. Simple sausage with rigatoni in a basic tomato and olive oil sauce. We insisted that she not spend the whole day in the kitchen, so she didn’t start until around 2. The wine is a new one. Beringer Quantum blend. Review in GBM’s wine thread.

Is that smoked on your Treager? I smoke my beer can chicken and the skin is always rubbery but yours does not look like that
Put your bird in the fridge the night before uncovered on a wire rack with no seasoning or oil on it. I don’t do the beer can thing, I spatch it, cooks faster and more even but I know folks like the beer can method. either way, drying it in the fridge should help w your rubber problem

Between the sous vide and griddle, most of our meals come from them. we do a hibachi night every month or so and it’s so easy to either put some steak or pork in the sous vide before work and sear them off when we get home, or fire up the griddle on the porch and knock somethin out quick and no dishes.

I don’t know why, but I feel like at some point, you flipped a shrimp tail into your hat.

We bought a griddle a few months ago and it’s awesome for damn near everything. Stir fry, fajitas, breakfast, steaks, you name it.

Breakfast is so easy. 2 packs of bacon, a roll of sausage and hash browns then cook some cakes in the grease from all of it! Then no pans to wash.

Keep it simple.

Asparagus is one of the trickiest things to cook. If over done, it’s not worth the pee you’ll have later. But if you nail the texture, with some sliced garlic, I’d put it up against any vegetable. Nice looking dinner.

Basic roasted chicken. Orecchiette with pancetta, parmigiano, broccoli and fresh peas. Similar to a carbonara but with no egg, which my wife prefers.

You’ve never had crispy grilled asparagus. No asparagus goes uneaten in this household.
