Daughter found a video for garlic butter buns and made them this afternoon. I made shrimp Alfredo to go with them. The dog approves.

      That’s a great looking meal.

Anytime I hear “Alfredo,” it makes me think of a meal in the lunchroom at school. Our new Food Services Director has tried to jazz up the meal selection and did this big advertising push for “Chicken Alfredo” that was to be served. It came out looking nice, but was pretty heavy and quite stiff. It stayed with you for quite a while (if you know what I mean). Hence, it was informally renamed “ Chicken I’m-Afraid-Of.”

You’re dish is obviously very much above :)

Momma makes a great meatloaf (easy but by extolling her culinary skills I don't have to cook) so I called her at work and asked for her meatloaf and mac and cheese for dinner. She stopped by Publix and shopped, came in and prepared everything and told me "OK the oven is preheating, I'm taking an hour and a half bath, put the meatloaf in the oven in half an hour and keep an eye on the mac" which I did. She came downstairs about 10 minutes early and flipped on the tv. I rushed into the kitchen opened the oven door, reached in and grabbed the loaf pan by the handles with the potholders, turned to set the pan on the counter and promptly dropped the fooking meatloaf on the floor. It looked like a possum that's been run over several times. Bear and Peanut had meatloaf this morning for breakfast.

@CDGator - those look really good, I call those cathead biscuits.

I sometimes make what's called butter swim biscuits like these, not my picture but come out just like this

            Ooof!
Started putting hash browns in my meatloaf and it seems to work well.

Mrs G made Szechuan shrimp last night. I thought it needed more heat, so I added Sriracha, but was quite tasty.

Son made doughnuts before dinner. It wouldn’t matter what we were having, I wasn’t interested in eating dinner.

Smoked salmon, rice & mixed greens.

Kids loved it. Dog couldn’t get enough of the skin.

No longer have a smoker so I haven’t done a brisket in two years. They were on sale at Kroger and couldn’t pass it up. Guess I’ll try it in the oven tomorrow. wish I had a Traeger or Egg for it.

Decided to trim some fat off this time but I don’t usually do it.

Never done one in an oven but if I did I’d still go low & slow without and covering. Once I wrapped it would be butcher paper. Then wrapped in a towel and put in a cooler to rest.

It's sitting in the fridge overnight and was going to cook it all day tomorrow.

I would have don’t the opposite. You going to want to bring it to room temp before putting in the oven, or smoker. It’s going to take a long time

Yes, I bring it to room temp before smoking but I put a rub on it the night before to sit.
You put the rub on and cook immediately?

Do you think I can use parchment paper?
Otherwise I have a brown paper bag but I bet that's too thick.

Again, I’ve never done on in the oven, only smoker. I trim and rub (salt & pepper) bring smoker to temp (200) let brisket get to room temp (~1 hour) and place on smoker when I go to bed. About 1 hour per pound, 15 pound = 15 hours. That puts it done around 2:00p wrap in towel and place in cooler for a couple hours.

Our community sprung up when the Gatorsports message board was shut down in the summer of 2014. We pride ourselves on offering Gator-biased, yet critical discussion among people of all different backgrounds. We are working every day to make sure our community is the best Gator message board you will find.
