Going to order a food service for my dad. You mentioned Blue Apron.
@cover2 what was the service you used? Guessing I buy a gift card and my dad schedules the meals? Anything else I need to know?
We use Every Plate. Similar set up as
@NVGator described. We order three meals a week and have been doing two servings since it’s just been me and the missus. Children will be home for a month or so and we up the number of servings to four. Each meal has a protein, at least one vegetable, and a starch. The portions are filling, but we usually don’t have leftovers.
The kits come with everything you need for the meals except salt and pepper, sugar, oil, etc. The produce has been especially fresh and the meats are of good quality as well. If there’s a drawback it’s that there is the prep that takes about 30 minutes, but we have enjoyed working together in the kitchen. Each meal has a detailed recipe and directions that you can keep and catalog.
We have been impressed with the variety of choices. I’ve really enjoyed the two Asian dishes we’ve tried, Vietnamese chicken and rice and Kung Pao beef, since I’ve never branched out much in that direction. The Southwest offerings have been good and there are several pasta and protein dishes to choose from. The tastes and flavors have been restaurant quality. We’re glad we tried them. It has gotten us out of a rut of sorts.
