Both deer I’ve shot at this year were from blinds and both times I walked out without the gun won’t be doing that anymore. Rookie mistake.
Those wounds look like slices from a sharp object, not blunt force such as falling off the stand. My guess is the deer "woke" as he was being gathered up by the hunter and he met the antlers.

Nice! Today is the last day for hunting in GA and I'm in a stand, in the rain, hoping to do the same thing. But the freezer is full so if I don't then that too is fine.
