Awl-benny- emphasis on the first syllable

It’s in the Southern handbook somewhere. I don’t have time right now to look it up or I would.

Also - it’s pronounced KAY-ro. (Cairo).
That one’s a bonus… you’re welcome.

How about Alachua (the county) versus Alachua (the city)?

Then there's Pierre, South Dakota.

And everybody's favorite, Phuket, Thailand.

I’ve heard the city pronounced A-LAW-chuway.
Am I ignorant or what?

First it was Albany, and now this.

The county is uh-latch-oo-uh, the city is uh-latch-oo-ay. One ends with -uh, the other ends with -ay.

Pierre, SD sounds like "peer", not like a French Surrender Monkey.

Contrary to appearances, Phuket is Poo-Ket.

Bonus Football Players:
Houston WR Haywood Jeffires (spelled jeff-ires, pronounced jeffries)
Green Bay QB Brett Favre (spelled fav-ruh, pronounced farve)
FSU WR Craphonso Thorpe (I don't give a fcuk what his momma says, Imma call him crap-fonso)

That’s how we pronounced it growing up in Tallahassee
I know, and Albany State is in Albany, GA... and the black guys I knew in the Army went to Albany State in Albany, GA and pronounced it the same way as everyone pronounces Albany, NY and how everyone in every Albany State youtube video pronounces it... that said, I think I've clearly identified the problem...

Everyone in Alachua pronounces it different than you pronounce Alachua County.

Serious question, did you graduate from HS in Tally? If so, without giving too much away, which one and roughly what year?

We had the Funk and Wagnalls set. You bought it one book at a time from the grocery store (maybe Publix, can't recall now). They'd sell volumes 1 and 2, then a week later it would be volumes 2 and 3, a week after that it would be volumes 3 and 4, and so forth until you got the whole thing (plus the 2 volume dictionary).

We had this set:

Alex.
We had this exact set, and got them the same way. I believe it was either food world or pantry pride.

In a year of asking experts their credit advice, here are six things they can agree on.
  • Know what you can and cannot afford. ...
  • Keep an eye on your credit score. ...
  • Pay your bills on time. ...
  • Shop around for the best credit card for YOU. ...
  • Pay your bills in full to avoid interest.
  • Stop calling it Alachu-ay. Seriously, 20 point reduction every time you say it, 30 on Transunion…
