I remember well when my parents upgraded from one like this to one made of glass and we watched the coffee being made. Ironically, since glass carafes get broken, most errbody has gone back to metal.

They still sell them but why???

We went from the stove top perculator to the electric and I thought we were in hog heaven.

I could never time the stove top heating right. I always left it on high too long and the grounds would flood over the top of the filter.

Mr. Coffee changed the world.

you are right about Mr. Coffee. Still, the best tasting coffee I ever had was from a vaculator. What a machine. Sucked the hot water up into the top container and as it cooled the bottom container drew the coffee down.
