Lies, damned lies, and statistics...
Look, the numbers said Franks was a "great" QB...but any fan over the past 3 years would say that numbers don't quite tell the whole story. Franks might have put up decent stats, but he wasn't an elite QB and showed as such in many, many games.
My point isn't to trash the guy, merely to point out that while Trask had some dangerous and iffy throws last year (some of which were turnovers), he *also* would make up for it later on in the game with crucial throws on 4th down or at critical junctures in the game when we needed to make a play. I could care less if Trask had 4 dangerous throws in 5 attempts in the first half...and it causes him to be low on whatever list this is: bottom line is that he almost always got better as the game went on and certainly as the season went on. He cut down on the strip/sack turnovers that plagued him early in the year and for a first-year starter, played pretty darn good. I don't know if he has a higher ceiling, but he has my trust going into this season; something I couldn't say for many of our recent QBs.
