This is an interesting pick up - he was unranked out of HS. He only played a few games this past year so he will have 4 years of eligibility. I'm not sure how good he is honestly, big kid though.

All that tells me is BN and his staff believe they can coach em up. The kid did not play HS football but was an impressive large bodied basketballer who they converted. I'm sure in their minds they have a steal and in another year we will be talking smack about this big body.

Good point. And now CBN wants him for the Gators. Think about it.
Every time the "stars" discussion arises, each side distorts the others position. Maybe now we can have a serious discussion. Stars are important because they represent evaluations by football observers. It is increasingly clear that CBN believes his evaluations are better than the services. In principle, there is no reason to believe that a good evaluator couldn't round up an elite team from overlooked players. Every year plenty of low ranked players make big bucks in the NFL.
Should be fun. Hope it happens.

Once these kids are proven in college, I think the star rating can be tossed. You can go up and down rosters all across the country and see 4 & 5 star busts and 2 and 3 star studs. Sure, we want to land as many of the HS 4 & 5 stars as possible, but when taking a transfer it's a little different metric as they've proven they can play (many of them at least). I'd say it's safe to say Emory wouldn't be a top 100 player right now, and this kid wouldn't be unranked (even though he's only a freshman).
