Maybe the worst of Mullen’s sins was his not using Pierce enough. Dameon we hardly knew ye..what a great person and Gator!
Not as hard as your mom pulled for me.I’m going to be pulling for him so hard at the next level.

Well, the "directional" school did pretty well plus considering their #1 QB (Gabriel) was out and they had to start a freshman QB. The City of Orlando is very supportive of UCF and they have a lot of positives going for them. I think within the next 10 years they will be a team to be reconnened with and on the same level as the Gators, Canes & Noles. Some of their 3 start recruits have turned into 5 star performers and they are doing well in assessing talent.
BTW, Mullin was mentioned for our OC.....the board about blew up. Our BOD did not like his personality or massive ego. Word on the street is that we are signing Georgia's DC but that he won't be announced until after their bowl game. Let's look forward to a much better football year in 2022. Sure hope Shorter is going to be ok. He is a very good player with a bright future if no residual injuries.
Ok, so some of you think otherwise, BUT remember in the 50's the girl's school out west which neither of us thought would amount to anything. Their overall record has been pretty good & they are considered one of the big 3 in FL, so it is more than possible that UCF could end up being the BIG 4.
The potential is there.UCF will climb, even if stumbly. The fan volume is there and the foolproof money keeps flowing in. Soon UCF will find the "magic" CEO-HC and up the upstart will go. Our disdain for their beginnings will become moot. They will successfully mine the recruit-bed that is the state of Florida.
And that always pays off for any program.
UCF could surpass one or two of the Big 3 in any given year. Doing it consistently would take a lot more time and $$$. But they have a huge student body and the Alumni are out making $$$ ... so its likely they will play a bigger role. NIL $$$ is the key.Ok, so some of you think otherwise, BUT remember in the 50's the girl's school out west which neither of us thought would amount to anything. The real tough thing if they get a Spurrier or a Bowden will be keeping him. Not sure how they could stop one of the big boys from swooping in, just like when they had Frost. All of this is subject to change if they manage to get a Steve Spurrier or Bobby Bowden figure, of course, as rog mentioned. Scott Frost might have been that guy for them if he'd stuck around, but Gus Malzahn definitely isn't. Those guys don't come around very often, though.
Ho
How can something be more than possible? Either it’s possible or not. And of course anything that is physically possible is strictly possible. But that’s not what you mean, is it? Do you mean to say it’s likely they’ll form the Big 4 with UF, FSU, and UM? Well, it’s not, for two reasons.
One, they don’t play in a major conference. Without Texas and Oklahoma, the Big 12 is just another JV league conference. Not a single team there garners any respect and no one will care any more about UCF eking out victories over OK State and Iowa State than they did Cincinnati and Houston. It’s only slightly better than when they joined the Big East/AAC.
Two, the Big Three all have real championships and UCF will never win a real championship in football. All three rose up in a different time where every good recruit in the state wasn’t already staked out and made into a commodity, before mega facilities and all the other goodies UCF doesn’t have. At the end of the day, they are a commuter school on the ass end of Orlando. The Bithlo Knights. Their brand is corny and their logo sucks and everyone knows it.
Regardless, why the hate for UCF?
Does anybody recognize that UF is "big-boys" elite where it counts because of 4 years of Tim Tebow at the helm? One QB that made all of it fall into top place.? Another similarly physically dominant & spiritually arousing QB will catapult lesser teams up. They just come along way spaced apart. AR can be national, but he can't bash the enemy into submission like Tebow could. I pray that Napcrew can make a Tebowesque QB out of AR, so Gators can have that offense that can score on most every drive.
Didnt we already have this conversation in another thread?! Talent only means potential. So yes Florida has a much higher ceiling based upon talent than UCF does. Doesnt mean that on any given game that talent can play to the potential (i.e bowl game). And when it comes to recruiting, UCF has not shown it can compete with the big3, which there means talent is less which therefore means potential is lower. For the last time, UCF is no where near to displacing the big 3 in a 5 year window. Why, because to do that, they have to have a legitimate shot at winning a natty in that time frame. The big 3 do, if only based upon previous recruiting and conference affiliation. UCF is doing the right things to move in that direction, and sure, they can have some nice seasons based upon win #s in that time frame, but they will get nowhere near a national title in the next 5 years. UF, UM and FSU all have better shots at seeing a title during that time frame. If you don't believe UCF can compete with the big three Florida schools then you must also believe the talent at UF is below a C grade because they just stood up to our current roster.
