Urban Creyer took over a 2-9 team and we went 16-6 at BG in two years then he went 22-2 at Utah (a 3-9 the year before). He won three championships in four years. SOS took a laughingtock team in the ACC and won the conference.

That's what championship coaches do. We didn't hire one of those guys. Losers make excuses.

It's definitely wait and see with this guy.

It's also silly for you to act like Colorado State is a dumpster fire. They have the best facilities in what is left of the WAC. They had numerous 10 win seasons in the last decade and were a winning team the majority of the time. They basically had one bad coach and two bad years. They were no Duke or Vandy, no matter how much you try to spin it.

What spin are you talking out of your azz about?
That raises an interesting question. Let's assume Muschamp gets fired after 2013. Does Foley go after Strong or Franklin?
My guess would be Franklin. But it's close. I say Franklin because he's got an offensive background.

Franklin isn't going anywhere.

The ideal situation would have been for Foley to swallow his pride and beg for forgiveness from Spurrier. And then back the Brinks truck up in Columbia. Probably would have still been cheaper than paying McElwains buyout.

The question was who would we have hired in 2013.

Like I said, one bad coach and multiple 10 win seasons last decade.

Please don't act like managing to finish third in whats left of the WAC (and losing to a service academy) is some great accomplishment.

SOS would never work for that azz. I'm not even sure if he would have worked for him has Fooley been the AD in 1990.

I thought a decade was 10 years and considering this is 2015 that would only go back to 2005. Maybe I'm wrong. :dunno:

The team Mac took over was 9-27 over its last 3 seasons, 23-50 over its last 6 and hadn't had a 10 win season for 10 years. Mac went 21-16.
When urb took over BG, they had gone 12-21 over the last 3, 24-42 over the last 6 and hadn't had a 10 win season for 9 years. Urb went 17-6.
When urb took over Utah, they had gone 17-17 over the last 3, 39-29 over the last 6 and had finished first in their conference 4 years earlier and won a bowl game 2 years earlier.

Urb turned things around more quickly and had done it twice, but the teams he took over were in slightly better shape than what Mac took over. And there really isn't another coach including Saban that has had the kind of instant success Urb had.

I really like his coaching staff. I think they have what it takes to get our program back to where it should be. The question is just how long will it take

They are all huge risks, ask Alabama who ran through 8 or so after Bear Bryant.

Yes, they too went through a period of hiring third tier guys and hoping for the best.

It's cheaper to just pay up front for the best than to constantly pay buyouts and pay two losers at one time.

I hope he does ok, but there is no denying he is a huge risk.
You hope he just does ok? Is that so you can be right about there being a better option? For someone that can pick apart any weakness real or imagined you set the bar kinda low.

No, I hope he does well because if Mr. 21-16 is Mr. 21-16 again, we will be circling the drain with Vandy for a long, long time.

In my view there are only two guys that are a sure thing that it would make sense to write a blank check to: Saban and Meyer. The amount of money we would have had to throw at either one of those guys would have been historic.

Not to mention no matter how much money you might offer them their current employers would at least match it. The few others who were possibilities had the same issues and somewhat they are attached to their schools.

I feel like these articles get written every time a new coach is hired. I'm pretty sure there were some articles like this written about Muschamp when he was first hired. How he had all this energy and how it was great because Meyer's staff had no energy at the end and it was so great to have a new staff with all the players fired up. I like Mac and I hope he succeeds but these last couple years have really made me a realist. So I don't really get to fired up about these kind of articles anymore.
