Verbal commitments are nice, but until they sign, and then until they actually make it on campus in a healthy state ready to play, you don't really know how much help is coming. And then, generally Freshman don't make a huge impact, especially on defense so it will be 2 years before we can judge the impact of the next class. In the meantime we will lose Miller and Burney and most likely Cox after this year. People rag on Burney, but the dude is athletic. He ran down the USF RB from behind 30 yards down field while our DB's were nowhere to be seen and he saved our azz against Utah, that's for sure.

Again, we have 1 loss so technically nothing is off the table even if reality says we aren't ready to challenge for anything this year. There's zero guarantee that next year's team will be any more likely to challenge for the East, and you only get so many seasons to watch, and the offseason is brutally long, so to say "wait 'til next year" before the Tennessee game is strange at best.

I am not saying the year is a total loss, far from it.

But this will not be a good year. Did you even watch the last two games?

USF, really?

Burney, again really? Oh he's athletic but so is AR. Take notes, these guys are NOT executing.

It's year one, with a new coach, in a new system and years of coaching from guys like Grantham and Nord.

There has been a lot of back and forth among everyone as to why our offense (I'd argue the entire team for that matter) looks like a sh!tshow when it hits the field. It's "all of the above". Too many are bickering over one thing vs another. Well, all sides in the argument are correct. Is AR a mental head case who currently sucks at QB? Yes. Are we lacking talent in many spots across the roster? Yes, significantly so. Is HBC Napier biting off more than he can chew as the OC and QBC? Absof*ckinglutely. Is Dan Mullen still the single worst coach I've ever witnessed? Hell yeah. Will it take time to salvage this sinking ship? Unfortunately, yes.

There is no silver bullet answer to our woes. It's everything. Richardson ain't as good as people hoped. This team ain't as talented as people think it is, nor expect it to be. Though Napier has made significant changes, it will be a sloooooooooow process to see any of them pay off for us (if they ever do).

HOWEVER, there is one single solitary thing that is under Napier's control: making immediate changes. Things are not working, and we've seen this movie far too many times. I refuse to watch another dumba$$ coach continue to force square pegs in round holes as other teams pile on points and rack up recruiting commitments. Napier must prove to the alumni and fans that he's got some new ideas and is willing to change, or he's gonna see a ton of empty seats in The Swamp as the year goes on (it'll happen sooner rather than later if we lose in a blowout to UT). He needs to take a page from a tearful Urban Meyer and admit things are not working, and go back to the drawing board (honestly, of all the things Urban ever did in his career, that one moment may have been the most significant).

If not, it'll just be another "wait til next year" season for the Gators. We've been in the wilderness for over a decade, and too many are too tired to sit through this again.

AR is in year 3
So your saying hes a slow developer?

I am suggesting that the QB Whisperer did absolutely nothing to develop him during the last two years.
You know kinda like what we saw from Emery.

I am not suggesting that either player is a slow developer, I am suggesting that the six million dollar man did nothing to support the development of either guy.

The thing that concerns me most is WTF is going on in AR's head. At the moment, it seems to be a combination of paralysis by analysis, along with a huge dose of the yips. Don't get me wrong. I'm still convinced that he's absolutely up to the job, I'm just beginning to worry if he's still convinced of that fact too. If AR can pull out of the funk he's fallen into, we'll be fine. If not, we're looking at 7-5 or possibly worse. The win/loss tally certainly isn't the only factor in determining the eventual success of this season. But the more positive the season narrative is, the brighter the long-term outlook will be for '23 recruiting and beyond. Duh.

It's not round pegs in square holes.

It's we don't have enough quality pegs.

Take AR, okay start a walk-on. Do you gain much?

LBs, we have a guy who can call the D. We have some young talent. We don't have both.

We have Grantham players who it appears learned little to nothing.

So let's say it's coaching. If we can't pass in the SEC we are toast. And do you play to win now or do you play the long game?

Either can be argued.

So $#!^ in one hand and wish in the other. See which one fills first?

Like his system or not, Napier has not panicked. Why are you?

Why on earth would the coaching staff tell the kid not to run? He stopped playing loose the moment they did. He's not even close to being the same athlete since then. Let him play, for God's sake.
There’s a Twitter video out there with Napier screaming at AR to run the ball. I don’t think he’s telling him to not run it. I think he’s trying to not run it to prove that he can throw the ball.

For such a nothing school in our world, they’ve given Tebow a concussion, destroyed Franks’ ankle, blatantly twisted Trask’s ankle moments later and went low on AR. Darnell Dockett himself would be impressed with that resume. We need to start blowing them out again.
And then our guy gets flagged for a low tackle on their QB even though the QB was running away.

I think we saw with Trask Mullet could develop a QB
Im saying sometimes there are limitations in some cases it may take years or may never happen

I don't think Mullen did a single thing to develop Trask. That kid was a diamond in the rough that we fortunately stumbled upon. He was never supposed to see the field, yet played well beyond the capacity of his coaches. That kid is a Gator legend in my mind. FF was the giraffe that Mullen was ready to ride into the sunset.

Please tell me any system that works with a QB who cant throw ..
I just listened to the podcast with Denny Thompson. Denny was basically saying that AR is not running. And he’s not really sure why. When he saw that he threw an incomplete pass instead of running to pick up 15+ yards, he knew that he was going to struggle against USF. He basically was saying that there’s not really communication coming from Napier to not run.

You win with the QB that you have. And if he was ham stringing him, he may as well just have a back up quarterback in there because that’s what the production is going to be.

Diamonds in the rough have to be cut before they can sparkle

Turned off the video within minutes when I heard "Sling Blade's passing offense is what I would call elementary" Well most of us have said similar and this guy gets heralded for breaking down film, so many on here are right.

I think AR is trying to prove ppl thinking hes just a running QB wrong, if thats the case its gonna be his downfall. Or, its possible that he's afraid of being hit 5-8 times a game with his track record of being injured.
Either way, he's not a guy whos gonna win games solely with his arm and Napier needs to be ready to pull the trigger on the backup going forward. He already complemented Kitna on his accuracy this week
