Verbal commitments are nice, but until they sign, and then until they actually make it on campus in a healthy state ready to play, you don't really know how much help is coming. And then, generally Freshman don't make a huge impact, especially on defense so it will be 2 years before we can judge the impact of the next class. In the meantime we will lose Miller and Burney and most likely Cox after this year. People rag on Burney, but the dude is athletic. He ran down the USF RB from behind 30 yards down field while our DB's were nowhere to be seen and he saved our azz against Utah, that's for sure.
Again, we have 1 loss so technically nothing is off the table even if reality says we aren't ready to challenge for anything this year. There's zero guarantee that next year's team will be any more likely to challenge for the East, and you only get so many seasons to watch, and the offseason is brutally long, so to say "wait 'til next year" before the Tennessee game is strange at best.
I am not saying the year is a total loss, far from it.
But this will not be a good year. Did you even watch the last two games?
USF, really?
Burney, again really? Oh he's athletic but so is AR. Take notes, these guys are NOT executing.
