Frazier still out as well. Billy D is reviewing DFS status on Thursday. Mizzou game will be DFS's third game out. Usually these suspensions last about 3 games. Luckily Mizzou is awful, but that means nothing with this team. If they want to get to 9-9 in conference this is a must win.

Could it be a bad drug test? Seems there is a % of games requirement.

Yep we need to win the next 2 games to hopefully end up the # 7 seed in the SEC tourney which would mean avoiding KY until the championship game if we did get on a roll.

Possibly. If he did and it's his second offense, it's 10% of the season which is 3 games.

That is about what I thought and I assume that this is the issue. Not something new or really unusual either.

But wasn't it reported that this was not a suspension due to school issues (it wasn't a school mandated suspension), which I would assume to include failed drug tests?
Also, if Billy was reevaluating him on Monday and then decided to keep him suspended for a 3rd game, doesn't sound like a drug test to me.
And for what it's worth, DFS is the best player on this team and has the best chance of any of them to make it in the NBA (he can shoot the mid-range and long jumpers, he can rebound, and can dribble/drive). The last player we had that could do that is doing pretty well for himself (Parsons).

I shied away from comparing him to Parsons, because I don't think he's as talented but I agree about the similarities.

The last one has Walker going 20th...lol. Of course that was listed back in Nov. I stand by my original assessment. There's zero NBA talent on this team. None. Nada. Zilch. And it shows in a big way.

I would agree with that statement regarding the current status of our team, but I think there's some potential NBA talent on the team that needs to be developed, but those players also have to put the work in to develop, so it falls on them - and apparently none of them are getting 'it' at this point. Parson's was not NBA ready after three years of Billy ball, but he really came into his own his senior year, winning the SEC POY. I just think DFS is the closest thing we've got to NBA talent at this point.

I do find it ironic though, that a player like Jeff Driskel, by all accounts is a great kid that busted his balls for one of the worst coaches in the history of the planet, never quit trying no matter the circumstances, but he got crucified and name-called anything imaginable on this site.
FWIW I was Jeff's biggest defender against those @(@&#^#@ that trashed him 24/7.
I defend em all, even Mad Max back in the day. The coaches let him take a serious fall for their grown up sh#t.........

I think Robinson is going to a great player. People forget how many of our great ones struggled as freshman, minus Beal of course.

I gotta disagree. I think Frazier has the best shot at making an nba roster. Yes dfs is a more complete player but after the lottery picks go by , the nba is looking for specialists. Frazier has prototypical 2 guard size and he's a 3point specialist. He's about as good of a sniper you'll find. I think Finney smith is too much of a tweener and doesn't have the perimeter skills to play the 3 in the nba. That being said it's hard to project these guys at the next level, I thought patric young would be atleast sitting on an nba bench.

Robinson is starting to come along pretty good and I think he'll eventually become a pretty good player for us. But I can't remember a player coming that raw and ever making it to the nba for us. Unless he makes a huge jump from freshman to sophomore year ,the odds are pretty stacked against him.

Seriously? Chandler Parsons? Joakim Noah? Did you see those guys play as freshmen?

If DFS can continue to shoot the three at the percentage he is now for another year I think he'll get taken in the second round. If he can do that and improve his drives to the basket I think he could get into the end of the first round.

Noah missed most of his freshman year. I'd say Parsons was comparable but I still think Parsons was more polished imo

I don't think he has much of a shot getting into the first round simply because it's tough for underclassmen to make the first round unless they're really special. But I'm not ruling dfs out as far as being a nba player. He's a very good athlete and has a huge motor.

Noah didn't miss most of his freshman year. He just wasn't very good.

Yea, I guess you're right he missed a little time due to mono but not as much as I thought. But still I'd say going from being not very good to being arguably the best player in the country is probably more of the exception than the rule wouldn't you?

Sometimes it's actually better to come out earlier because the scouts will project a little bit as to how good you might be able to become. If you've been in school for a while and haven't improved it can hurt your draft stock. That doesn't apply with DFS as he is already an upperclassman. He really should stay another year. When I look at his game I think he has good size to be an NBA small forward and he has the necessary athleticism. He rebounds well and he's a decent defender. On the offensive side he really doesn't have much in the way of moves to get to the basket. At around 40% he is shooting well enough from the perimeter, but I don't think he has a large enough sample size shooting at that rate considering that he only shot 30% from 3 last year.

Looking at the rest of the roster there are 3 other guys that have NBA level athleticism -- Chris Walker, Kasey Hill and Devin Robinson. Unfortunately none of those guys have NBA level skill at this point. Who knows if they'll get there or not. I'm sure that some NBA team would take a chance on Walker if he were to leave this year just because of how high his ceiling could be.

As for Frazier II, I just don't think he has the quickness he would need to make it at the next level. I would love to see him prove me wrong, but he is a little bit undersized for an NBA shooting guard and he doesn't have the ability to get his own shot.
