For the safety of all concerned, it would be well for the bands at all college games to wait & stay seated in the stadium around 1/2 hour or so till the masses of fans exited.
Apparently the UF band exited among the masses of fans who were exiting which is pretty routine for all bands to do so. It was also noted that there were only a few exits open - all exits should be opened.

That is certainly one good option. Schools should develop and coordinate (w/ each other) an exit security plan. If certain exits were closed, the easy answer to me would be for security or police to escort the band to an exit that isn’t open for the general public. I’m sure there are other measures that could minimize the risk of these confrontations due to close proximity.

Where's the taliband when you need them?

Well at Miami games opposing exiters need be transported out in ambulances as suitable reminder of the college jungle present.

Its what happens in venues that host very few REAL football games. Especially when the teams are rivals that despise each other. Im blaming the association that hosted the game and their lack of security...........

With respect...It's the U. When I saw the 2001 Sugar Bowl U vs FL...We were throttled by the Canes and the U fans were still despicable...many arrests on Bourbon and around the stadium.

Not to mention the Stadium was empty.

I hate to say it but there's truth to this.

I've never had a worse experience with fans than I did after the 2013 loss in Miami. Older dudes acting like frat guys etc. You can imagine.

During this last game I was dreading what the scene would be like if they were victorious.

My friend remarked as we were walking back to the car how quiet and tame it was after the game and I said it was because we won. We thought we escaped without any craziness but then came home and saw the band thing.

Lots of Canes yelling at me and my group on the way to the game.

My mom FINALLY admitted that taking my nephew (whose been attracted to the Canes since the thuggery of the 80's) would have been a bad idea. She'd been giving me crap for over a year wondering about why I would refuse to sit with him. (He backed out during the week)

And someone posted not all the exits were open. That's not accurate. As someone who has attended about 50 events since the renovations a few years ago, the exiting, especially with how things were set up for pre-game just sucked. There were extra fences up that basically bottle necked everyone due to all the production trucks (the game, gameday, SEC Nation, etc.)/

Four or five officers or deputies escorting them would be enough. Especially if you let me pick. I know some fellas in law enforcement that make the guy from “Green Mile” look small. In my experience they can turn away wanna be tough guys with just a look.

The Richland County, SC deputy they show on "Live PD" is enough on his own to secure most anything. That guy is HUGE.

And your demented, thug fans shouldn't attack them one way or the other.

...if this was a widespread problem in college football, this would be a reasonable suggestion that I'd agree with.

That said: it doesn't appear to be much of an issue anywhere else; whereas we have decades of misbehavior to point to from Miami fans acting like idiots. I realize you don't speak for them or act like them; but I think its clear where the problem lies.

Not going to quote all 4 of you, but the posts above are correct. You can take precautions, and there will always be outliers in any fan base that are problems. But with um, it’s way too prevalent. My wife grew up in WP so obviously had many encounters with canes in day to day life. But her second ever game in ‘08 changed he, and that was in Gville. She couldn’t get over their behavior and has no desire to ever be around them on game day again. The world shouldn’t have to accommodate and alter normal protocols because of one fan base.

I agree with you in principle. However, I think a few games that involve extra police with body cams would produce enough arrests to send a message. And the police could take their time with “processing” to ensure nobody is bailed out too quickly/conveniently.
