When is the last time a coach landing his first full-time recruiting class at a school finished in the top 6?
Thats not going to age well. Many have done it. I'm not jumping off a ledge yet, but lets not lose sight that everyone on here including you held the belief that a top 5 recruiting class for 2023 was NECESSARY if we are expected to compete for championships under BN. This class will determine what we have in BN as far as recruiting goes, being ranked between 7-15 places you as close but no cigar. Lets not pump so hard that we lose sight of our expectations BEFORE we decided to like BN and how he does things.

Meyer, Saban, Smart, Orgeron, Fisher off the top of my head.

They also all have rings.

Also, Day, Harbaugh, Zook and WM for the guys with no rings.

The bar has always been a top 10 (or better ) recruiting class for my approval.

I think that's realistic.

We won't know until Dec 21st.

And next year when a lot of RBs and QBs have fewer places to go?

And I contend that under Napier, our players will play better and be more disciplined than anything we have had in over 10 years...based on ULLA.

With their efforts, players will start coming. They've already turned IMG...They'll get So FL and then other states.

Recruiting was going swimmingly until OX updated the board.

I’ve started going back to pages 1-3 where @Gatorbait25 did a brilliant Seinfeld/Billy Mumphrey play on Law and the board.

I think that’s where the disconnect is with some of these differing opinions. No one has said that the staff sucks at recruiting, this class is terrible, etc. The concerns that some of us have are the little justifications and rationalizing that are creeping into the discussion. Even in this thread, there are posters one minute saying it’s early the class will be great when all is said and done, only to then talk about how time will be needed for the staff to truly put together great classes.

There is no doubt our team playing better from a discipline standpoint than they did through much of the last two machines. And yes we have some bright spots at running back and elsewhere. But we’ve still have to recruit with the big boys to be in the championship discussion. Everyone here , and even Napier himself, has acknowledged it. The reality is, things don’t change all that much. So this class absolutely has to be a great class, or it’s going to be very rocky ahead. That’s just the reality of college football.

Both of these points are simply wrong if your goal is to win a championship. Top 10, while those ahead of us are staying ahead doesn't make up ground (especially if QB recruiting does not bring in the top 1-2 guys).

As for not knowing until December, that was always deductively known, but Wil Miles has done the analysis to demonstrate it is false. We will know very soon roughly how well this is going to end, i.e. elite level (top 5-6) or next group, which is now usually further back than top 8-10 were 10 years ago.

Allegedly a 4 star OL just committed to fsu while in Gainesville on his official visit. But don't worry it's only June.
It wasn't while on campus. It was after he left, but the point being made is correct. Not sure if we were ever in it for him as he has been an fsu heavy lean for a long time.

btw...Kiffen is killing it on the trail, right?
